What's the difference between these induction kits/intakes?

At anything above about 15-20 mph I doubt very much if the intake of underbonnet air makes any detectable difference unless someone can prove otherwise?

+1. If you have cold air ducting the difference would be negligible in real life at speed vs a sealed cold air feed IMO. Perhaps on a rolling road test you would see power loss....

What people forget about these things is that really the only gain is where the induction kit allows more air in than the standard airbox setup, or the route for that air is less tortuous.

If it does then it will have a benefit, its not about underbonnet air temperatures which have negligible effects for most of us - witness the difference in your cars performance between a 25c summer day and a -5c winter one.....

i agree my car is a different car in sub 10 deg C weather......... but theirs a new mod on its way to me that will give me sub 1 deg C performance in 30 deg C of weather ;-)

what is it???

Methanol/water injection kit :-)

Been under the bonnet with a tape measure and calliper my idea is not going to work on these cars cos the sensor is built into the airbox head, the afe kit is probably the best value option even with this the biggest cost is the machined alloy sensor mount.Or get a s/hand airbox top and cut it.

The gruppeM is a much more widely recognised and reputable brand. I have the aFe intake, it's a much more snarly noise and will also put a smile on your face. Some will say that the GruppeM is worth the extra, but if I'm honest - I get just as many smiles per hour out of my aFe intake.

sounds good but where did you get it and was it a ba*****d to fit?

I think I am going to pick up the afe later this month or early next month

Pretty pleased with how it sounds! :D :driving:

you'll definitely get some heatsoak without additional ducting feeding the cold air to the air intake.

and that will make what noticeable difference exactly? I mean as I said earlier, if your car went 10mph faster when it was -5c outside, compared to a 25C summers day, then its an argument I could buy.....but as it is......?? :?

Thanks for the feedback. Fitted the RPI scoop yesterday. Can't really tell if it's made an improvement to sound or performance, but it all sounds nice so I'm happy. Surprised how the standard scoop works! RPI scoop looks like it would work much better. It was all very easy to fit, even in the icey early hours of the morning!

But do you have a comparison video recorded from the same position to compare the before - after 8)

Might be able to find a video of before the induction kit was fitted. I'll have a look when I'm home. It would have been a different day and the camera would have been in a different position though.

The kits are easy to interchange so if I get time I'll put the standard one back on and do a test.
