...from an insurance company :(

Just spun off the M42 in pissing down rain due to no fault of my own.

Now Standing at the side of the M42 between J6 & J7, in the rain, after speaking to highways agency & Fire brigade who helped me to turn the car the right way around.

Tw*t in what I think was a mondeo pulled out and slammed on when he saw the standing water I'd lifted off for, causing me to brake right into the standing water.

One 3 lane 180 into the hard shoulder barrier later and I'm in an emergency refuge facing the wrong way with front & rear wings damaged, door creaking, and bits hanging off.

Doesn't look like a lot of damage as I probably hit at 30mph after the spin, but I know how insurance companies are, and they'll probably write it off for £2-£3k of damage.

Should have just hit the tw*t who pulled out.

That's a bad newsflash mate but at least you're Ok , cars can be replaced
Plenty of time to worry about the numbers later

Christ Tony. Sounds like a nightmare. At least you are okay. :(

I take it no chance of finding the "mondeo". No cameras around even further up the road?

Agree, glad you came out of it unscathed.

I nearly lost mine hitting standing water at 60mph. scary moment

So sorry to hear that but glad you're ok, bet you're still shaking :-( as Andy says, worry about the numbers later

Bloody hell mate shame but you are a live and kicking

Unfortunately there are some terrible drivers out there. Just remember though we all make mistakes from time to time. I doubt the guy did it on purpose.

Monkey

Hope you get home safe n sound. And not too wet!!!

The car took it very well, not even an airbag deployment.

I was already leaning over to the passenger side as I saw the barrier approaching, so am fine. No part of me touched anything other than leather.

No chance of tracing the other car as it pulled out, slammed on and disappeared from my side, front, side windows.

Ouch :( sad times!

Before you forget, note down any details of the car possible. The police should be able to figure it out from cameras pretty sharpish, if they're motivated enough.

Tony - sorry to hear this, but good news is you're OK? Car can be replaced.
I'm just down the road so if I can help post and I can come over.

Very sorry to hear that, especially after all the money you've spent on it recently. It's a real shame that such an enduring forum car with an experienced and invested driver should come to a sticky end due to an inconsiderate arsesole. You have my sympathy. I'm glad you came to no harm and that you weren't collected by another car mid-pirouette, or worse. Hope you get home safely.

Glad you're ok, car can be fixed or replaced although you will no doubt be pretty annoyed with the piloock. Write everything down whilst it's fresh including sketches, worthwhile returning to the same spot as a passenger to take a few stills. Keep the pressure on your insurers to chase Mondeo man - they will look at it simply and go for easy option whereas you may want to push it towards the one who caused the issue.

Push em but remember it's flesh and blood that is most valuable :D

arghh mate, actually gutted for you.. really gutted :-( glad your ok, and sadly this is a part of motoring that we've all experienced at times.

the car can be replaced and WILL be replaced and even better for us as you'll hang around longer anyway

In the recovery truck now. Should be home by 1am.

Probably not even worth checking cctv as there was so much rain & spray that you wouldn't see anything.

Phoned the insurance company while I was waiting and they're going to call me back in the morning to complete the claim.

Will do sketches, but not sure photos will help as they wont add anything to the description/sketches.

Pity really as the wings were the only bits that didn't need a respray

Glad you're on the truck and homeward bound. It's truly pissing down here.

Tracing the other car is pointless unless you had a dash cam running. Even if he/she was traced they just deny any involvement.

Hope all goes smoothly with the claim.

Where's the wreck being taken? Presumably it'll be recovered to a yard over night then moved on once the assessor has passed his verdict? Look out for light fingers making off with the easily removed mods such as the back boxes... The seats were stolen from my first Westfield after I crashed it before the insurance company had even written it off!

How bads the damage? Any pics? Might be worth buying back off insurance company and breaking for bits. The car is worth an absolute fortune in parts. Also Always get recovered to your house. That way no one can touch it

Glad you're ok.

I hit a flooded bank on a feeding road to the M25 in Surrey last week and my car drifted across two lanes and nearly lost it. I thought I was a gonner!!!
