What's the best way to remove side badges?

A length of strong fishing line (at least 10lb breaking strain), or any thin strong nylon is good, as it breaks the glue seal but doesn't damage the paint. I put some masking tape around the area on the panels just in case, though.
T-cut is great for removing the residual glue from the panels. Only needs a tiny amount.

Another good tip is to measure where the badges are before removing; draw this on a bit of paper and keep it with the badges, just in case they ever need to go back on. :thumbsup:
 
As above, I used rubbing alcohol or wd40 remove the residue..patience is required though as its pretty tough glue it leaves behind and its by no means a quick job :thumbsup:
 
Use a hairdryer or heat gun and warm the badges up prior to removing them, it will make the job so much easier but be careful not to apply too much heat to the paint.
 
When I removed the badges from my coupe, I used waxed dental floss to remove the badges and then removed the glue with WD40 before polishing the area.

Hair dryer and dental floss, but the dental floss did break a lot so fishing line as suggested above is probably a better bet.

Adhesive remover to get rid of the residual sticky stuff.
 
An old credit card or similar works too. Just heat the area with a hairdryer first. Residual glue removed by wd40 or the likes.

My golden locks disappeared many, many moons ago. I knew I shouldn't have used 'wash and go'. :)
 
Surely everyone has a hairdryer hard-wired into their glovebox? I’m thinking there will be a thread for this if I look hard enough

Most hairdryers are rated at around 2000w (so I'm told by the wife and daughter) at 240v a/c. Drop that down to 12v, you would need to times the amperage by 20. So by my calculations: 2kW x 4.5A = 9amps x 20 = 180 amps! :o

Or ditch the hairdryer and open the roof! :thumbsup:
 
Actually this thread has reminded me I need to remove the 'essay' from the wings of our Z4 (especially as it's a povvy 18i). :oops:
 
I think heating the the decals with a hair drier then slicing thro with dental floss sound good to me!

If I was going to remove mine that's what I would try first.

White spirit doesn't 'melt' the adhesive very well at all. It is also a paint thinner! :)
