What's the best sounding car?

What a stupid post, how on earth would you get a Z to sound like a SLR. 'Yes I fitted a Merc v8'. Yes you can tune an exhuast but the engine is what gives it the noise really, i.e all 4pots sound rubbish, 5 pots have a nice warble, v8's mostly sound the same, etc etc.

While making a Z sound like an SLR might sound silly to most of us, it's still a fun topic to have some kicks with. :thumbsup:
 
I got overtaken by a Gallardo in a tunnel today, the car made so much beautiful noise that I s**t and did myself at the same time :D definately Lambo Gallardo :thumbsup:
 
I think its an impossible question, like 'who is the best looking girl in the world', still I have to say the Zonda F sounds AMAZING, as does the Alfa 8c and also new Astons are rather nice.
 
Awesome sound from that GT when it was actually moving. Good one TXMike,

Seemed naff when the driver went through the crowd pressing his "look at me!!!" peddle.

Read the post again. The question wasn't how do you get a Z4 to sound like an SLR. :poke:

The thread asked:

1. Anyone know of a better sounding car (than the SLR)? - the point being to get people to think about and volunteer cool sounding cars

and

2. Has anyone been able to get their Z4 sounding as good as this??? - the point being to get people to volunteer examples of cool sounding Z4s

So far we've heard some asewome sounding cars. I'm happy.
 
I do so love the Ford Gt sound. Basically any deep american muscle and I like it. I do love the Aston Martin sounds too.
Man I need a better/louder exhaust :(
 
Getting a Z4 to sound any where near an SLR would be impossible. Straight six's just sound too metallic.

The best sounding lump for me is the Audi 4.2 V8 as found in many nice cars, the lambo for one. The sound of the SLR is a bit too 'wet fart on a bench' for me.
 
My old TVR had the sports exhaust which was better, but still not bad for Dagenham's V6 Ferrous Donkey

The Aston Martin Vantage V8 sounds incredibly good in the flesh, but the video sound bites on Youtube, etc., do not nearly do it justice. I fell in love with it the first time I rapped the throttle on one. Wow. Beautiful looks and beautiful sound.

The best sound that I have ever heard or driven is a Ferrari 275 GTB/4 (I used to work at a Lotus/collector car dealership in the late 80's) and the second best was a Ferrari Dino 206 GTB. Both were late 60's models before any hint of pollution controls that strangulated most cars soon after that.

Jsut been sat next to one of those Maserati 3200GT (the ones with the thin LED strip light on the rear) at the traffic lights, sounded like darth vader mated to a V6 when it pulled away, actually sounder very good!

Porsche 996 c4s with the sports exhaust, ok and any Ferrari v8 at full chat! Oh, and for some reason any v8 pick up in america makes my hairs stand on end!
