Whats the best car you have ever owned

Oooh is that le mans blue? Mine is exactly the same, except auto.

Another vote for a bmw diesel... :poke:
I took a 2006 E90 330d auto from 3 months old/3k miles to 157k miles over 6 years. It was a fantastic mile muncher(I managed 41k miles from 1 MOT to the next once) and a great all round car. That was black though.

I did however have a E90 330i auto a few years later in Le Mans Blue(a lovely colour). I much preferred the 330d overall though. :D

Mine was a MK7 Golf GTI DSG with Performance pack. It did everything so well. It was comfortable, practical, fast. Spec was great. Dynaudio stereo and nav was amazing. I actually really miss it :(

Yes, Le Mans blue with added dirt. She’s on 168,000 miles now and feels as good as when I first got her.

Hard one....

I guess it is my TVR Griffith, I saw one in the papers when they showed the motor show and it had covered lights! I was about 10 or 11. Finally got one when I was 23 and had it since. It looks great, sounds great, has never left me stranded and never failed an MOT.

This reminds me, I'd best go put it on charge!

theres no way a 100% reliable TVR is real!

Hey - my Mk 3 TVR Grantura was reliable - after I cut the body off the frame, and replaced the missing rusted tubes, and put it back on and fixed all the original shortcomings - built during the receivership and the kid they sent over the wall at night to harvest parts to keep building them apparently grabbed tow left hand lower A arms, etc. etc. I raced it for several years and everything stayed together rather nicely. The plexi rear window even sayed in place (because I remembered to install window restraints!)

If you want to talk about cars which never had one single minute where everything worked properly at the same time, let's swap Rover 2000 TC stories!

Another for the RS1600i club. My mate's one back in the day.
I don't get why they are so desirable now; they were an XR3i with Turbo wheels and Recaros.

For sheer driving pleasure and fun I had a red Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI a good few years ago. Nothing before or since has made me smile so much. Luckily there were very few cameras in those days. If I had it now I doubt I would also have my licence. :D

Mine certainly wasn't!(Cerbera 4.5). 2 wiper motors/2 boot locks/3 starter motors, plus a full rebuild including the crank and cylinder head.

On the right day and at the right time it was awesome though. I did battle on with it for 6 years(18k miles) and I'm still glad I had one. Mine wasn't a daily and I take my hat off to anyone that uses them everyday(I'd have smashed mine to pieces I reckon! ).

Not so actually Pondrew, from memory.....the RS differed from the XR3i thus..:

115bhp as standard as opposed to 105bhp for the 3i
Beefier, thicker exhaust manifold
Twin coil ignition
Left hand brake servo with a linkage across the bulkhead for right hand drive cars
Twin front anti roll bar links from the white heat MK3 RS turbo
Thicker anti roll bar front and rear
Higher poundage springs with Bilstein dampers
Different anti roll bar pick up points.
With 115bhp it was only 17 shy of the RS turbo.

The seats were a big stand out for me with the RS1600i. My Dad's mate had one and I used to love going out in it. My Dad also had a 1982 Escort XR3 when I was younger. The best mk3 I managed was the 1.3L! Although I did have a mk5 RS2000 later on and I really liked the seats in that too. 8)

A good thread. :)

The best one for me was my S14a 200SX. It had a full decatted Mongoose exhaust/K&N/adjustable actuator/colder plugs etc, running around 250bhp. It was just so much fun, it always felt quick and it felt relatively light. Had it for 4 years/40k miles and I loved every minute of it. I'm also really enjoying my current 370Z(not used it since Dec last year though!), but my 200SX hit the spot for me so much.

Love mine, so much so that I still own it 20 years on :)

Absolutely Lee, the seats are even better than the Recaros in the turbo cars, Shark grey Scheel seats, like driving around in your fav armchair, absolutely superb they are...!

He had his when I had my Turbo. The turbo was a much more desirable car at the time as it was seen as being a "proper" Ford Motorsport RS.
Now it seems to be going completely the other way; the Mk111 Turbos are so "last year" and the 1600i is the one to have. Fads I suppose.

Always liked the 200sx. They became the "drifting king". I have had a soft spot for Jap nutter cars for a good long while.

I had mine from 2002 to 2006. When I got it in 2002 it was quite an under the radar car, but by the time I sold it the drifting scene was really picking up/gaining momentum for sure. I still browse them in the classifieds and nice ones do seem to fetch good money now.

I only paid £12k for mine back then(18 month old/19k miles). There is one for sale at the moment for £25k! Drift tax for sure! :D

I really like the Jap scene as well.
