whats my z4 worth? thinking of selling

Hello all,

Now I know I am going to get loads of people telling me selling is a rubbish idea but its time, I only like to keep cars for around 18 months (an expensive hobbie I know) I think I will sell it in a few weeks as the weather is good should be snapped up.

Its a 3.0i auto 2004 convertible, 37k in silver. Loads of options;
Heated electric leather seats
Sat nav
bluetooth
6 disc
park sensors
xenons
cup holders
mutli functions steering wheel
clip in wind deflector
Oh and of course a stubby!!!
Prob got some more options but I cannot remember its pretty spec'd up

only got a few months tax and MOT but was thinking of sticking on a new MOT with sale (for the sake of £45 it would seem like a good peice of mind to a buyer, thoughts?)

4x nearly new Toyo T1R tyres and about 11k till next service which is all BMW service history.


Was thinking of putting it on autotrader for £10500 - seems pretty good value?

I welcome any thoughts?

Hi Neil. Don't sell - you will miss it!
We bought a 2004 in Sterling Grey with 40k mileage and 1 owner for well under £10k about 6-weeks ago. No Nav but a bunch of other options like yours.
Yours is lower mileage + new tyres + ages to the next service. These add up when selling privately.
I would use the various Search options in Autotrader to nail the value. Around £10k there are plenty of vehicles. So worth listing all the options and taking decent photos.
We lost count of how many had poor repairs or really worn/ scratched interiors. Assuming yours is the typical forum'ites tidy example it will sell. :)

Banbury, if you dont mind me asking how much under 10k are we talking?

For me I would pay a little extra for Nav cus I like it but I know thats not for everyone.

As for condition its very tidy, like everyone here I am sure iv lost count on how much I have spent of waxes, polishes, wash, clothes etc etc not to mention how many hours :D
 
Probably also depends where in the country you are selling it. Some early ones go for really cheap although they have higher mileage. I thought on the Zeds that the auto version was not as desired as manual (unlike other cars like Mercs / Audis where auto is the more sought after)
 
Hi Neil, Just found the invoice - £9975 (OTR). This included - 12 months tax plus BMW Warranty in the price. Came with heated seats + electric-fold mirrors + bunch of other stuff I can't remember... Yours has nav and this was on my shopping list but I could not find the ideal car with it. So you are in luck with prospective buyers!
Some other notes i.e. Where Folks try and haggle you downwards. :wink: Road Fund/ Tax on the Auto is "L" so buyers need to factor in £445 if buying from a dealer.
If yours has the balance of Tax on it then a better deal for the buyer. Same with the MOT. Even though it is not much of an outlay just having 12months means peace-of-mind for many. Same goes if the car has recently been serviced or not due for a while.Obviously full Service History and all the usual old bills/MOTs always helps.
Really recommend giving it a good "Detail" beforehand and taking some decent pics. Ours had recently been Detailed and machine polished and the interior was really like new. It made a real difference to the car and meant that we paid more than we intended... Personally I would aim for just below the £10k mark and it should sell.

Well I want at least 10k for it so that seems possible seeing as mine has less mines and the nav xenons bluetooth ect, im sure thats worth £25 lol.

thanks for the advice by the way however on cars older than 2006 you dont have to pay that much tax, its only £220ish the higher groups only apply to newier cars. Mine has about 11k till service and I am selling it with a 12 months MOT.

As for detailing isnt that what a sunday is for.... that wont be a problem :D

shame you have bought yours now eh, I live in witney, you could have had mine!

I knew this would happen - a better spec car available just down the road. :oops:
I think by the time you have finished Detailing it to death and with the Spec you will get the money! :)
 
Yea, I think a few pounds over 10k is a fair price.

The question is now what to buy next..... I am still thinking of a 2 seater sports car and iv already owned a 350z...

Hmmm. You are asking this on the forum and expect an unbiased reply? :lol:
Having come from a TT and Boxster I would recommend the Boxster if you can take the hit on servicing. That being said the 350z is looking incredible value at the mo'.
I am sure the forum'ites will help you with recommendations!
