Out of interest, what happened to the original engine that necessitated replacement at 50K?
Were I an average potential buyer, I wouldn't be at all put off by the new engine. As you say, it's one very expensive part of the car that should need no attention for a while. However, I might be by the serious track-orientated mods.
For me, I would happily buy this exactly as is to save myself the expense of modding one myself - the only thing it lacks is aeroskirts!
On that note, I'd be very happy to give you my OEM airbox and a handful of bank notes in exchange for the Gruppe M, and I might be interested in the brakes and suspension if I can find the cash....

I think just simply put that any sort of major work like that on a car would put me off. I had a bad experience with Renault replacing major engine parts on a previous car and it's somewhat made me wary. However, the main put off for me would be the new engine 800 miles ago. Yes it's new and yes it shouldn't have problems, but if I was a buyer I'd certainly be wary of it, perhaps enough to put me off if there was a similar car without a replaced engine available - I guess that could potentially be a valid thought process of a buer. Sorry but hopefully my honesty is helpful
Out of interest, why would a new engine make you wary a11y ? Because it's not been fully run in and isn't covered by a warranty (though does a new engine come with one ?) ? Or because pu'd be suspicious of the rest of the car and how it has been treated ? A genuine question, not a challenge
Oh, and if the Gruppe M would fit a 3.0si...

Why the change of heart? Good luck with the sale, I would put the car back to standard if it was down to me. I personally like your car, but I am 100% certain that the majority of people would be put off by the mods. If you are not in a rush to sell, stick it out and see what it fetches. Your biggest problem is that if you are selling it as a track car, you have some very stiff competition at a much lower price - you can get a decent track ready E36 M3, which would be quicker than the Z4MC for £8k, hell, you can buy a beater E46 M3, dump £10k worth of go-faster goodies in it and still be ahead of the Z4MC.
Based on the above, if I was looking for a track car, I would give yours a miss. However, if I was looking for a mint, Z4MC in good condition, one owner, with lots of nice options - then yours would definitely be on my shopping list.

I was told that any part replaced under BMW Warranty was only covered for the length of the original part's warranty. Similar situation I believe to more mundane items replaced under warranty, such as phones/cookers/TVs.
i.e. if you have a 1 year AUC warranty and get a new engine at 11 months into that warranty, your new engine would only come with the remaining 1 month's warranty.
Although if you have an extended warranty then you're covered anyway - and the new engine I had under AUC warranty is the main reason I took out the extended/insured warranty when my manufacturer/AUC warranty expired.

I'd hope so, but would they give you a full 2 years, or only cover a period equivalent to the same percentage as you paid towards the repair. e.g. a £14k engine change where you pay £250 excess, so you're only covered for 1/56th of the cost or 1 week's extra warranty if it fails againflatout said:

For me aside from the price difference upgrading to a worthwhile successor to the Z4MC needs, it also dawned on me that i'd have to go down the slipery slope of mods to make the car feel :evil: placebo effect....
So for now i'm looking at a few things to make her more attractive
1) new windscreen to get rid of the stone chips
2) Carbon wrap - mirrors, roof, front centre section bar of front bonnet, and middle bar of the rear wing, not sure what this will look like, but heading to FX in Bromley to talk through ideas
3) Full front end respray.. and yes, aero side skirts on the way too (are the stock ones worth anything?)
Hopefully all this along with a trip to the ring for Easter will bring the sparkle back, ....

Here's the dilemma, do I sell the car as is with the following or convert back to stock
- Grupe' M induction
- S/S manifold
- S/S race exhaust
- 100 cell cats
- Intrax suspension (recently serviced by Intrax)
- AP BBK's all round with new discs (c2k miles)
- Recarro PP seats
- 3 point Harnesses
- Light weight F/star wheels with Nearly new Bridgestones
- 3 Point Strut brace
I guess i could net a few £££ from parting out all the above, but really don't have the time to do give it all the attention it needs.... I recall back in 2004 selling my JCW Mini CS as it was with all the mods with not many issues.
Could this be the case here?? It's just an idea so if all fails i guess I have a brand new engine and clutch to last another 5 years..

Flatout, always sad to hear when a true enthusiast is selling. If you decide to return the car to stock and sell the mods separately, I'd be very interested in the suspension, and perhaps the BBK and cats.
