What's It Worth In The UK (Z4 C)

Hi guys,

I'm hoping to upgrade to a sDrive35is so i have my current Z4 Coupe for sale. I'm based in Ireland but hoping to sell to the UK because of the exchange rate at present... the GBP is so strong against the Euro (thanks to Greece), and it costs €1400 per annum to tax my car in Ireland, so it will be more difficult to sell here.

I've had a look on Pistonheads and i see that 2008 Z4 Coupe's with similar miles are asking for £15k, however there is not many of them for sale. I was hoping for some help on my pricing. I'm asking for £13,500 (update: now £11,800) and willing to cover travelling costs. Is this too much / too little? Does that seem like a fair price? Thanks in advance to any help on this, as i am not familiar with the UK car market at present.

Here is a link to the ad with my full spec, which should help: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=78904

You're going to be competing with cars of this calibre:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201507064953940

Which is slightly lower miles, slightly better spec and being sold by a dealer..

On the face of it £13k - £13,500 is about right. I can do a more in depth analysis if you like but I would need the last 7 digits of your VIN..

Thanks, but if you bought that car, you wouldn't get to see Ireland :-)

I'll drop it slightly as i don't want to be greedy about it, as i'll make it up on the exchange rate, but i'd like to get what it is worth too.

Thanks for your help on this.

Sub £12k private sale is where it should be IMO so you should get interest
Looks a terrific car but your location will be the biggest hurdle i suspect .
Would it be possible for you to bring the car over & travel back as a foot passenger ? This may prove more tempting for potential buyer ?
Best of luck

Thanks Mr Wilks.

Yeah i was considering making the trip myself... however i could end up making the trip over to a tyre kicker.

I'm confident that if a genuine buyer sees it, they will take it as it really is immaculate and i've owned it from 8,500 mile onwards.

Maybe i can work out a deposit etc... anyway we'll see.

i bought my Z from Northern Ireland, flew to Belfast in the morning, met the guy at the airport, took it for test drive etc, parted cash, drove it down to Dublin then jumped onto a ferry to Holyhead and drove it all the way back to Norwich in 1 go without stopping once. was really worried about the journey but it was actually pretty simple and easy tbh :driving:

Northern Ireland is UK though, Ireland you have to deal with importing the car and re-registering it.

Hi PVR, sorry i am not importing, i am trying to export my car

Things that may put off a UK buyer include the fact that some insurance companies are a bit 'sniffy' about imports.
My car (a 2008 coupe) originated in NI but I was still worried about this. When I did the VIN decode it stated that it was UK spec
which eased my mind. Also NI no longer legally counts as an import but some insurers are still uncertain because HPI checks are limited largely to mainland UK. Eire certainly counts as a 'proper' import still although most of the cars are 'world spec'.

Another issue is that your speedo may be KPH with MPH as a secondary ? I presume that as you quote the mileage that its an MPH speedo.

Lovely car though ! :)

That is pretty steep for tax over there or did you mean insurance?

That's the tax- Ireland has horrendous road tax costs. My brother had a Leon Cupra and moved down south and the road tax was 2k a year!!!
