Whats is wrong with saving for a car.

I find that surprising scootr, apart from my part-time semi-retired motor trader mate most people I know live on overdrafts and credit cards!

Oh to be an average Brit.

Maybe I need to dig the garden tomorrow, just in case.

You can come round & dig my garden if you like, my back’s a bit knackered these days :P

I've never done a PCP deal on a car, somehow no matter how hard the sales guy tries to sell it and points out the 'advantages' I can't bring myself to shell out all that dosh each month and then have nothing at the end of 2 years. I know it makes some sort of sense on paper but I just can't bring myself to do it.

You could always buy the car at the end of the PCP John :)

At least with a PCP it gives the option at the end of the term to chop it in, give it back and walk away or pay the balloon.

You certainly could but then why not a bank loan/bmw finance etc if that is the intended outcome?

Its unlikely you would get any decent discount Ron if you took out a private loan and BMWs finance is pretty competitive against high street loans on new cars.

Your not alone OP i was brought up to save for things i wanted its the reason i have only owned 2 cars as i am on a low income plus i am to fussy when it comes to a cars look.

The Z was a big save especially after i sold my Calibra it was a case of saving like mad for those last few thousands that i needed and working lots of overtime i was leaving home at 5am and getting home around 9pm for a few months during the winter before purchase it was a killer but worth it when in Jan 08 i handed over 17.5k at BMW Park Lane and drove away in my new to me Z4 :D

I know, I can't work out how I ever had time to go to work - happy days.

But then it looks like you are more into Estate Management than gardening!

Yes I could but after 2 years ownership of any particular car I’m ready for a change TBH.

Anyhow what’s a balloon got to do with it? :D

Apart from my second and third cars...always cash...feels good to actually own the cars you look at in your drive....
