What's in your tyre???

Well I haven't posted in a while and thought this might be a bit of fun. After months of searching for a Z4M I eventually gave up and treated myself to a Porsche 911 997 C2...that's another story... I was out on my fifth drive ever in the car after giving a bit of a clean today. 2 miles into the journey I can hear a noise that doesn't sound right. It's a new car but I thought I would pull over to have a look. As soon as I stopped I could hear the hissing!!!!!! Luckily it still had lots of air and I was minutes from my local friendly tyre centre.

Well safe to say he could not believe what was in my tyre. The hole was so big that the tyre couldn't be repaired and it gets worse....the tyre was 2 months old and had covered 1000 miles :(

So here is what was pulled out. Which has led me to this question, what is the strangest object you have seen cause a puncture?? Extra brownie points if someone can identify this b*stard piece of metal!!!!!!!

Holy crapola that's nasty! Can't say I've had anything stranger than the usual screw/nail, I'd say it might be part of a whacking great ratchet strap used for HGV loads?

I think that is a very sensible guess at it is a very solid piece of metal...

The chap at the garage had seen a kitchen fork in a tyre which is quite a funny one!

Was it actually inside the tyre or hanging out from it..?

Crikey imagine that flying off the tyre at speed.

I reckon its cast iron so... probably part of a grate or gulley..??

Wow :o

Worst I have had is a 1/4 brick that fell off the back of a truck on the A2. Went straight through the tyre and actually punctured the alloy itself. Didn't stay in the tyre though

On another related note - where are the pics of your new ride :poke:

It went all the way through the tyre and left a small amount showing. I was hoping to have it repaired but it was far too much damage and not the kind of car to have a weak tyre on!

Got a screw in my rear tyre today :x

However, centre tread, all fixed by ATS for the princely sum of £21 :D

Not cast iron, just pressed steel.

Packing strap seems close to me, similar to what I was thinking, some sort of latch.

I had 6" x .5" bolt in my rear tyre once.I have suspicions that it was this flailing about that caused the coil spring on that wheel to snap cos it made a right row before it got fully embedded in the tyre. Im suprised it didn't smash the allloy but luckily it kind of went in at an acute angle. This was on a previous car not the Zed
