What's happened to the market for M Cars??

..and buying another cheap run-about for daily use is not financially feasible.
Wouldn't say that's true for everyone, lots of people here including myself do it, and it can be done pretty cheaply.

How much do you think you save in running a second car along side your M? Taking into account two lots of road tax, insurance, servicing/running costs.

My Polo:

- Depreciation - next to nothing
- Tax: £90 (I think).
- Insurance: £100
- servicing: £100 a year (or diy).

It is a CAT D car though, which will always knock a few K off

Of course - Should be 25% off normal price. Naughty that the seller forgets to mention it.

I have contacted the seller and he bought from BMW 5 months ago and states not Cat D, HPI clear.

Had just logged in to post same. Makes it very intriguing! With an AUC history would be easy to check - would also show on an HPI. Hmmm.

In that case I was misinformed by another conversation on another forum, sincere apologies! Mods can this be removed, I don't want to screw the seller over, sorry wasn't trying to misinform

So where is the cat D bit coming from then?

It was my fault, I had been told that this had hidden history. THIS IS NOT THE CASE IT WOULD APPEAR. Please disregard previous comment that started this, apologies. Next time I'll check more thoroughly rather than taking someones word for it

If he bought it from BMW 5 months ago he would have surely paid well over 20k for it. Why then sell it now for 15k? Nasty loss in five months, doesn't add up to me.

OK - so I'll leave the thread as there is nothing personal and it corrects itself, but it does show the potential risk of posting unconfirmed information.

As with any purchase and this one being at £15k 'caveat emptor'.

I also phoned today as in the market. This one scares me though. Price doesn't add up.

It's a dealer to start with I'm sure. I phoned and used the 'I'm phoning about the car...answer = which one.'

He then said it's hie wife's car which I doubt as seems that's every small dealer line. No cat c/d says no denst scratches etc FSH at main dealer. Emailed me pics and all looks good.

I don't get it. If I HPI it will it give me VIN numbers I can check? Tempted to bite the bullet and go look. :?

Mark, no harm in looking just make sure everything is 100% if you go ahead. I would look at it if I was able to buy, but would go in with caution as the price is very low.

+1

Once you have the details of the car I would also put a call in to Stratstone BMW. If it is AUC then any dealer should be able to see the history, but having sold the car they may have more on the history. Dealers are usually quite obliging with this sort of thing.

If you look on the Pistonheads ad, he is also selling a Porsche 911. My guess would be that he needs the money quick, hence the price.

Given it is still under warranty and was purchased from BMW AUC it seems a bloody good price.

If you are still talking about the £15K roadster then he lives in the same town as me. I'd be happy to go and look at the car and give it the once over if you wanted. You would have to arrange it with the seller first though.

P

15K for a roadster with all the required service history etc  Never been a better time to own such an epic car for so little money!

Hi

There's a 2006 z4m £14959 on autotrader. Keithley yorkshire

Keithley Yorkshire is infamous for one particular trader. It wouldnt be them its for sale with would it?

Not sure what the concern over M prices is. When I got mine Z4MC I considered a similar age/mileage Cayman and the price difference is the same. I've yet to see a good late model Z4MC for less than £20K which has the options you want on a car like that and a colour combination you can live with.

In my mind £20K is still not bargain bucket pricing but good value for what you get in these cars.
