What's happened to my steering wheel?

Now they damage the silver trim... for gods sake!! :headbang:

Indeed. The person handling the issue for me was livid and embarrassed to tell me what had happened. So long as it's fixed it's a non issue to me.

Sure, I agree. I think if I was the dealer, by then i'd just have ordered a whole new thing and tell you its on its way.

i'm anazed sometimes how poor the workmanship is. I remember picking up abrand new z3 which had a cd changer fitted on delivery. Tech then shut the bootlid whilst holding screwdriver. Deep scratch back to metal! They are the sort of things that everyone knows not to do!! So annoying, as so avoidable.

looking forward to hearing this sorted.

The car is home. The new wheel looks better than I ever remember it when new all those years ago.

... However ;) and you knew it wouldn't be the end of the story... The right hand flappy paddle isn't right, I suspect they've trapped something in the mechanism as it will only change up if you really pull on it :(

Sigh... Looks like it's going back again.

It does look nice tho...

The official code for the order was 'steering wheel, sport'. Which makes me wonder if this is the M sport width wheel, it certainly looks thicker than the original, maybe its just my eyes fooled with the matte finish.

Good (ish) news.

can I put a £5 bet on what they scratch when repairing the paddle? :poke:

hmmm, i'm betting wood on centre console. :D

Might be an oppotunity.. push (pull :P ) for a proper paddle upgrade! :D

Nah, I prefer the push pull paddles to the left down right up ones, personal preference, just used to them. So long as they sort out whatever is snagged behind the right one, I'm happy with a £600 (their quote) free wheel.

Car was collected, paddle issue resolved, car was returned. All appears well at the moment. Nice to have a new steering wheel, happy with the result.
