Got my car booked in at a stealers next Friday to get some problems looked at under warranty:-
1. Auto wipers dont work.
2. Auto head lights come on even in bright sunshine.
3. Auto dimming interior mirror does not work.
4. Roof will not go down all the way and latch, sticks at the last inch.

Now i'm worried what's actually whats coverd in my used car warranty and that I might get charged for some of the fixes.
Any thoughts or advice.

Quick and thorough read of the warranty might help......

Yea, should be covered if BMW warranty

2) they wont do anything about this, i asked the same - its "as expected"
4) will probably be a room tensioning strap

Item 4 has been covered on this forum and is subject of a remedial note by BMW to dealers (or whatever they call it....)

All of the above are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

wear and tear items like brakes/tyres are not (though interestingly I think that the clutch is).

Road wheels are not. - though i've insisted no mine being changed under warranty and others have been successful too.

As far as I see it, EVERYTHING is up for negotiation. (it they want to see you in two years time again with £40K in your pocket).

- tell them that you can get s**t service for free anywhere. -'so impress me' :D

Depends on which cover you go for, as the exclusions can cover almost everything (i.e. the clutch plate & flywheel, pedals, and seals) and doesn't leave them much of the 'system' to fix.

BMW Driveline Warranty said:
No mention of clutch, so I assume it's not covered at all.
BMW Named Component Warranty said:
Excludes everything except release bearing, master and slave cylinders.
BMW Comprehensive Warranty said:
Includes everything except clutch facings, burnt out parts and general wear and tear.

THe auto lights problem is common, mine come on in bright sunshine, and dont come I when I think they should, it something to do with the frequency of the rays.

Thanks guys.
Puts my mind at rest, but I will not be fobbed off with excuses from the dealer.

Cheers

I'm sure I've read one of the key programme option is to change the sensitivity of the auto head light function.

I have read this to, but dont recall anybody actually having any sucess with it.

I think CJ's posted in the past. I've spent the last 1/2 hour trying to find it but couldn't. There was one from USA which looked as if this can be done

Sorry to Hi-jack but I noticed today my headlights were on and the sun was shining!! Any fix or just ignore?
