from, they are only allowed to sell the car if it has full bmw history.

Dealers 'get around' the official AUC rules all the time.

A case in point is that those Bridgestone tyres would be a failure as they're not BMW Star marked (and those original wheel badges really need to be replaced with the new-style ones).

Stick out for wot you want because every time you see a red one you will wish you waited, wots wrong with that one that’s for sale Tom

I think this is due to BMW having reservations about putting warranty on older cars without FBMWSH.

But from speaking to salesman at different garages they do make exceptions. I can see why they’ve done that here. It’s a Z4MC!

The most expensive Z4MC on Autotrader also has a dodgy service history.

The previous owner sold it for far cheaper even with the low mileage due to missing the run in service.

It has now appeared at Hexagon for £40k and has suddenly got a full service history including the run in service.

Don’t worry I just had a look.

Hexagon aren’t BMW, they specialise in classic cars and attract certain buyers. A Z4MC with poor service history is probably too much hassle for most BMW main dealers from an AUC perspective who cater for the average punter who wants to get rid of their VW Passat.

I’ve actually seen that car in person when I was at BMW Park Lane Battersea. The owner at the time was a trader who came into the parts department for a new cup holder (in my head I was thinking how could it break on such a low mileage car but hey ho).

At the time he told me he wanted about £34,000 for it so looks like Hexagon will cash in once again.

Tom,

You've got history on this!

You were after Red manual E86 and ended up buying a Black auto. that you want to replace already.

If you really want a Red MC don't buy any other colour as you'll only wish you hadn't in a few months!

(Mind you it's possible the V5 for a Ruby Black one will show the colour as Red - mine did). :o

I know but my heart tells me the arse has fallen out of this market like they are saying on PH forums, people are loading up the market for sales with decent cars and they are not selling (sorry to be crude). Same as any bubble, once people believe they are on a time bomb they will sell because they are afraid of the potential losses if purchased as an investment.

Its called sitting on your hands, i have a fantastic coupe but its not red, just waiting for the right one to come along, ill consider other colours if i see its a total no brainer investment. My heart is emotional to a colour but my brain is clued up to the world around me.

Ive offered 17500 to the Imola Red 85k car i wont go higher.

Right - it sounds like you've got a strategy there.

If I was looking for an MC I'd really want Imola Red, Interlagos Blue, Sepang Bronze or Phoenix Yellow!

Saying that Ruby Black does looks fantastic in strong sunlight - we just don't get it that often! And the rest of the time it just looks black. :(

With the bubble .... do you really think they are talking about 10-20k cars ? If I sell mine at £21500 I’m set to loose over 2.5k in 4 months . If I keep the car and the market value drops and say I get 15k ... the Porsche’s I’m looking at will also do the same . It’s only the people who have bought for investments or want cash will loose out .
