What would you pay?

I think I may have found a lovely Z4MR and would be interested what you think is a fair price to pay privately.

The car is Ruby Black with Red Leather, 57 plate, 28.5k miles, 6 owners, FBMWSH, Inspection 2 carried out last month. Brakes and Tyres have plenty of life left..

Options included:
Wind Deflector
Interior Mirror wit Autodip
Rain Sensor
HiFi system Pro DSP

The car seems in great condition.. I really appreciate your thoughts re. the price?

Pics always help with opinion & pricing / staring down the barrel of the the worst 6 months seasonally & as the market stands after a difficult 6 months knowing what similar cars have either sold or stuck recently ?
Purely my own perspective but £15500 / £16500 ballpark for private sale , it was'nt that long ago that a very similar car sold on here for under £13500 private sale :o ( 12months ago perhaps ?? )

Just re-read the title. I would pay what Mr Wilks said as I am a tight arse.

There a low miles MRs on AT for that money but none seem to be shifting.

I ended up keeping ours rather than give it away.

It's just had a £2K Inspection II service at BMW, with a clean bill of health and the rear springs replaced. This has got to be a factor hasn't it?

Ins2 at a decent Indy is only £750/£800 / id rather that in the book than a main dealer one tbh :o
A car serviced at BMW isnt a guarantee of a good car , it simply means it cost the owner more to maintain it imo
Ultimately you need to pay what you are happy with & not what forum members think they would pay

I used to disagree because you would never get goodwill but at this age I don't think you would get any of that anymore anyway.

Thanks for the insight... I was really worried by the number of owners being so high...

On a car thats 9-11 yrs old 6 isn't really that many , how long as the current owner had it ? What is the breakdown of the service record ? What work (if any ) is documented in last few years , how does it drive , feel look etc etc . These are used cars , some have had a hard 30k , some have had a easy 70k , no 2 cars will be the same , just be happy with your choice & enjoy the car

Yep you are right Mr Wilks! The current owner only has the service receipt for the last service... will BMW be able to provide me a print out of the services and what work has been carried out?

As said I wouldn’t worry about owner numbers. These are niche cars imho and not for everybody, you’ll get people buying them and not being able to live with, or simply not liking them and moving them on for no other reason than that.

Thanks I wont worry about the owners then.... :-) Do you know if BMW be able to provide me a print out of the services and what work has been carried out?

It depends whats important to you. Whether you want a particular car or a good buy. If I wanted a low mileage black M and was happy with the spec, providing everything looked and felt right Id pay £17k or £18k. IMO the inspection 2 adds a premium, along with brakes, tyres etc as you could buy a similar car two grand less that needs all these things and you'd be worse off buying it.

Good luck with your search

6 owners and 28.5k miles? Replaced rear springs at 28.5k miles? I would be cautious about that.
But if the car feels like 28.5k and your Indy or dealer can verify the mileage I would give around 20.000 euros easily.
Z4M's are amazing cars especially if they are roadsters with black colour and red leathers

Springs can go at any time. My last zed one went within the first 20,000 and under 3 years.

BMW can provide service info for work they have carried out. You will probably have to ring their premium rate number to find out and where and what dates the car went in to the service Dept’s. Then ring those dealers and ask for further info. That’s unless the process has changed.

My car was 3 months outside of warranty & I was refused goodwill for a cracked rear wheel (full bmw service history on a car just over 3 years old) on a car that’s ten years old I think you could forget it

Bmw will be able to tell you when it visited and which dealer and the mileage but not what the visit was for . you will then have to contact each dealer to find out what exactly they did to it

If you are on good terms with a BMW dealer they can run it through the after sales/warranty records and see what has been done to it under warranty

Are you saying it has no service history at all apart from one recent service ?

Did it have the running in service ?

To me no history and 6 owners would have a negative impact on what I'd pay for it .. you would have to treat it as an unknown mileage/history car and price accordingly bearing in mind that you would have a potential issue selling it on
