Another emotional dilemma.....
I have a baby pigeon wandering around my garden. It looks like it fell out of it's nest and can't fly enough to get away. It is so stupid that it now thinks I am it's mother and comes running over to me when I go out there. Pigeons are obviously not good parents as it has been abandoned.
There are three scenarios here:
1. I shoot it and put it out of it's misery.
2. I wait for it to die of starvation
3. I wait for a local cat to torture it to death.

Number 1 is the best IMO but I can't kill a baby (even a pigeon).

Seems very late for a baby. I think it's out with the air rifle. The only time I've shot anything (living) was when I found a pigeon hunched up in the garden that a hawk had had a go at. Back torn open but still alive. Nothing else to be done but I didn't half feel bad about it.

4. Pigeon pie.

We had similar with a baby gull that had fallen from its nest on the chimney, we built up a structure in the garden from my children's old climbing frame to keep it away from cats and gave it a covered area with access for the mother to feed it. In the morning we were very distressed to see that it had been attacked by a bird of prey and was in a bad way. We rang the RSPCA or the bird version, can't remember which, and they came and took it away. We both felt really bad that we had let it down.

Invest all of your time, energy and emotion into trying to turn it into a swan, even though in your heart you’ll always know it’s still just a pigeon…
