What would you do?

Salt or fresh water?

Assuming fresh, I would drive through it in my daily.

Not sure in the Zed I have certainly turned around in the past at such damp patches of road. So probably turn around. :)

I got a Vauxhall Cavalier floating, for a short distance, many years back. I also got it up on two wheels going around a corner the same day. That got the heart rate up. It was a hire car though, so impossible to damage. :D

Would fresh or salt water make any difference, if sucked into the engine it would knacker it regardless if enough is sucked in to hydrolock it

I think a small amount of water might not do any harm, better if it's fresh though :)

Tim.

That doesn't look deep enough to worry the engine at a bimble through. It was corrosion that the question referred to. Even a inch deep salt water ford, would be as bad as driving on a salted road. Something to be avoided, at all times if possible, in my ///MR.

Probably wouldn't apply in this case but if I can't see the road if it's a bit too deep I would be worried of any uprooted drain covers :o but yes anything salty is bad news.

Tim.

One of the few situations that your tin top has an advantage :poke:

Me too unless [ref]Pbondar[/ref] arranged it :poke:

Please…maybe Andy has ordered the 20mbit Ka Band satellite downlink for his G29 so he can run a fast moving wi-fi hub so we can see that the ferry has sailed! :tumbleweed:

If in English that means the Wi-fi hun thing, yes I’ve ordered that which hopefully consequently means no more ferry mishaps

But, we’ll still send [ref]Flyingfifer[/ref], to it and see if we can lose him :poke:

I was lucky not to loose it, was on my non-rft tyres so like to think they saved me (as opposed to driver skill).

Nothing more funny than other people’s mis-fortune, and I bet the other driver looked in his mirror and p$ssed himself.

I on the other hand, sh1t myself!!!!

Never seen it flooded there since but the other part floods every now and then but last few times I’ve turned round and gone about 2 mile detour, well worth it I think.

Find the nearest pub and wait for the water to go down is the best option.
Yep, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

And then I nearly got wiped out with this stretch (same road) that I'd never seen flooded before: https://youtu.be/D9VHFwWHkVA

You could probably have the van driver done for that, either driving without due care and attention or according to the conditions. Looks to me there was time to slow down before hitting the water.

Dangerous game to play as you temporarily lost sight of the road

Tim.

Words can't express how "daft" these folks are. They deserve any damage and cost incurred because of their actions. Even here in the US if I had one of our "lifted" big trucks I would not attempt. Water and rust go hand in hand. Not for me thanks.

I was probably going a bit too fast for the conditions although I didn’t see that coming until he hit it and by then there wasn’t time to react, apart from put my head between my legs and kiss my arse good bye.

I’ve never seen it flood at that point before (or since) and to be fair, he probably didn’t see it either until he also hit it.

Just bad timing really, could’ve been worse for me and as you say, I lost visibility for a second or two and did a bit of aqua planing as the car definitely turned to the left a bit.

This argument would go in both directions, although its higher I'm sure the Zed sent plenty of water onto the van as well. What's good for the goose and all that.

It was just a bad bit of flooding and some inconvenient timing nothing more

Some would give the benefit of the doubt, others wouldn't

Yeah, I never thought of that but looking back at the video in slow-mo you can see my car creating a splash that must've got his windscreen as well, so both of us got wet

Roof down tonight though, so all is good

I got caught in a tsunami from the opposite side of s dual carriageway near Dumbarton . It had been raining very heavily but It had stopped and the sun had popped out. If I’d been in the Z the top would have been down - A heavy going in the opposite direction launched so much water I was driving blind for a few seconds - the wipers that eventually came on couldn’t cope.

If I’d been in the Z it would have been filled and I dare say looked like a pair of chumps .
