What would you do? Motorcycle troubles & dealer

There are some times in life you should only buy a quality Japanese built product...motorcycle purchases are at the top of that list..if you must have Italian at least make it an Aprilia :D

A Mate bought an Aprillia, RSV4 brand new. Within 6 mths, the shocks where leaking, the fuelling was terrible, wouldn’t start, broke down on a trip to Bala... traded it in for a Honda.

My previous bike was an Aprilia Caponord, which I had for almost 14 years and 55k miles. Did at least 16 European trips on it, never once let me down. In that time the only 2 failures that were arguably non consumable, were both starter solenoids that packed up over winter.

Prior to that I had an RSV Mille for 3 years and approx 25k miles. Also never let me down.

There's nothing in the aprilia or any of the Japanese ranges that appeal to me though

Even though I'm not as content with the BMW, it SHOULD be reliable and it has plenty of dealer support to back it up. I definitely didn't dislike it on my test ride, it's just not as special as the ducati. Probably better objectively, just not subjectively (IMO)

Have you had a looked at/considered a Yamaha MT10? You can spec it up with genuine parts to make it more user friendly, screen etc.

I considered it and test rode one but couldn't get on with it. Only other option I considered was the ktm superduke GT. Test rode one and did like it a lot, but they only have 6 month warranty, like ducati. And I prefer the ducati anyway

I thought new bikes had to have a year long warranty by law? I think most are 2 years now, never heard of 6 months :?

I bought it second hand from the main dealer, they typically come with less warranty than new
