What would I expect to pay for this Z4?

Hi guys

I am new to these cars but have been doing my homework but can I ask what I would expect to pay for this car that I have seen.

It is a 2007 Z4 3.0si Sport Roadster

it is a private sale

it is a really nice example and here is the spec

comfort package
Heated seats with memory
MV2 alloys

it has full BMW service history

it has 30k on the clock

the car has run flats on it but the two front ones do need replacing

the alloys have been kerbed in places and corrosion has started to set in so they all need refurbishing

the oil change service is due now so it needs that service at BMW

the road tax expires at the end of August

I appreciate it's only your opinion but it would be good to see what people think as a lot of you really know these cars well

Thanks

Andy

Given the amount of money you'll need to spend - e.g. wheel refurb £300, service £300, tax £260 etc....

I wouldn't want to pay more than £8,250 for it

Surely not £8250! Have these cars really de-valued that much?! Granted its got a few bits that need sorting by the sounds of it (nothing major) but has to be over £9000 right?

You been drinking? :poke:

Thanks for the replies guys, even with my limited knowledge of these cars £8250 does seem a little bit on the low side :)

If it was in good nick and just serviced with tax - £9k easy

But with 4 wheels needing refurbed and a service due and no tax - knock that price down!

I do know what you mean as there is a good £1200 to spend on that car, I would prefer one that is sorted rather than having to immediately have to take it for a service after I have bought it. Some people want top money for their cars when they clearly have things that need doing to them which adds up to quite a sum!

I really would prefer the 3.0 but they do seem harder to find don't they, I might be tempted with a 2.5 but it would have to have all the extras on it but I know the 3.0 is the one I really want :)

Adamski and Zermat are both scotch though, financial acumen is genetically 'baked in' :poke:

Looking at that other car I didn't realise these had depreciated so much... I got 11k just under a year ago when I sold my 2 ltr!

Marchantsuk's was a 2.5, not a 3.0, and lacks a few options like nav - yeah, jeer all you like  ...and heated seats.

This is amusing

Ok - who'd all queue up to pay £9k for a car that needs £1,200 spent on it??? 8)

Totally agree with you. Your £8,250, equates to around £9,500 spend. Equally an owner that wants to sell with this much needing to be done has probably many more undeclared issues to fix. Anything from chips and dents to the other tyres borderline to short MOT and of course no warranty.

Btw - unless I missed it the actual car is not linked nor price stated?

There are 07 plates with 30K+ mileage going for £13K on Autotrader...so it must be worth at least £10-11K dependent on number of previous owners/history/condition etc?

err you are linking a dealer there with that one who always charge more, they don't go for that price especially with everything that needed doing to the one I mentioned, the list of stuff that needed money spending on was quite a lot, the private sales currently on Autotrader for around £13k are the M model and cars never sell for what they are advertised on there at, and don't forget if you see one overpriced on there it will still be there weeks later.

Fair point, but that's a trade seller, so you'll pay a premium for that.

But then there's an 08 plate, for £10,500, new tyres and MOTd until March 2014 for £10,500 (and doesn't need over £1k spent on it).

LINK HERE

I admit that £8,250 is low, but reflects the amount of work required to get the car back up to enthusiast standard. I'd pay anything from £9.5k to £11k for a 'loved' 3.0si in a private sale - provided the condition and history was there etc

Would definitely knock it down a few pegs on the price to cover the repair costs etc. You done a free VOSA check on it to find out what advisories its had too? Worth grilling the owner a bit to find out if any previous problems were repaired and finding out a price from main dealers to repair them (don't have to get the repairs done at main dealer of course).
