What wear to expect ?

I bought the Z with R/F all round. Backs were replaced with non R/F Avons. I checked the rears and have 1.5mm over the tread blocks and done 11k since fitted. I am projecting / expecting 15k max. Does this sound about right? With all the threads on other brands I cannot find figures, has anyone had better miles on the rears. Pleased with grip etc and not driven hard to give premature wear. Fronts are still R/F with guesstamating about 24k from when they were fitted by the previous owner Any ideas greatly received.

Your rears are down to their limit now so you wont get a further 4K out of them. Why not do a complete change for non RFTs all round now - you will certainly notice an improvement over ride and handling particularly as your tryes will be matched at all 4 corners

Thanks Alan I was questioning is this sort of miles correct with other brands which members have used. (The rears are still 1.5mm above the blocks)

I managed to scrub a full set of EagleF1As down to the wear indicators in 12000 miles. There are a lot of corners round here though. I would think it would be easy to get further with less comedic driving.

Roadster - sorry misread your first post regarding the wear limit. Certainly sounds good for another 4/5k miles :)

Down to your right foot I would suggest.

Harsh acceleration and adventurous cornering will increase wear

I have PS2s all round and 20k miles still have 'meat' left but will replace before the summer with a new full set.

I'm picking up a new 2.0is E89 in 10 days time and to say the days are dragging is a real understatement.

I'm trading in my 330d e92 couple which over the 62k miles have had it, has averaged 30k miles from the rears.

Given the huge torque (500nm) on my current car I'm really surprised to read some of the Z owners only getting 15K and before anyone says it, although i'm no mad man behind the wheel I dont drive like Miss Daisey either ( hopefully the 15k milers own the 3.5is ? )

Ditto that but on the 2.0 that I have I'm supprised, but hey ho :o
Years ago on a MR2 mk2 I would only get 6mths wear out of the rears 8k miles or about.
Never mind ....... maybe if road surfaces were improved ........ sure thats where the tax goes :o No dont go there.......

which ones have you tested?

The original conti sports that came with it, some michelin ps2s and now on a set of falken 452s which seem to be wearing remarkably well.

I know I could get more out of them but I drive it like its meant to be driven and lets just say I enjoy the virtues of rwd and an lsd...
