What watch for £1000 - £1200

So I have sadly lost my faithful Tag F1 Chronograph (2005) and the house insurance have surprisingly agreed to replace new for old and have sent me a voucher/card to purchase a new one.

The only restrictions are it has to be purchased from Ernest Jones.

I've never bought something of this value before, but don't really want another Tag.

Currently I am thinking along the lines of a Hamilton Jazzmaster Skeleton Viewmatic for something different as I have a Hamilton already and really like them.

and maybe something else around the £600 mark?

Thing is the only Tag's that are around that price are the new F1 Chrono and I was lucky enough to be given one last year! And the others all kinda look the same, the Aquaracer does nothing for me, except look a bit like a oversized 2000 series. I'd love a Carerra, but at £1850 it's too much. Although some shops have been know to knock up to 20% if you ask. Even then, it's still too much.

You could always consider selling the gift card separately then you're not tied to that particular store?

I've had a Hamilton for 14 years now. I've had it serviced a couple of times when the the self winding system sounded a bit lumpy, but other than that no problems. And in my opinion it has aged well too.
This one cost considerably less than your price bracket, I am just commenting on the reliability.

This would be my first choice given what i can find on the EJ website

But I already have a ton of watches. Even if I didnt already have a decent sized watch collection the ball would still be in the running but there are a few others around the price range I'd consider.

Or even this

And have some cash left over to buy something for the Mrs

Cheers 85.

I already have a F1 Chrono and a 2000 series Tag, but the Baume and the last Ball ones are really nice! Haven't looked at them before. For some reason I just don't like the Longines or Tissot's not sure why.

Popped in to the local one and have decided that the Skeleton watches are not for me.

I did like this combination of Hamiltons:

and

Best thing is I can afford both of them!

But I'm off to a bigger EJ on Sunday so will look at the Ball's and the B&M whilst I'm there!

The first one is nice. Mine has the open workings on the back. I know I'm about to be shot down in flames...but perhaps a watch for you and a nice peice of jewellery for the lady in your life :D :D

In a rare moment of generosity I did consider this, but she's not really one to appreciate nice watches (they my look nice) but the actual detail doesn't bother her. Plus about 3 weeks ago I bought her a very, very expensive piece of jewellery which is far in excess of all my watches put together, in the form of an engagement ring. :D

So time to treat myself (as well as the Ohlins I bought for my bike. But they were a REALLY good deal...)

Oris Aquis automatic will not disappoint  ( they have open workings on the rear ) i have the date version but this is a step up for not much more spend https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Mens-Watches/AQUIS-TITAN-7154-07-75PEB-TITANIUM/B009MA2UGG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1496421851&sr=8-5&keywords=oris+aquis
Also have a Breitling , Tag & a Glycine to compare against & they really are a quality item

EDIT / thought they sold these at EJ , apparently not

Looking at the Oris advert. Weight: 957g!! 😱

Haha , thats a typo for sure :D think they are more around 200g which compared with my Breitling Aerospace of 40g is pretty noticeable  never feels over heavy though , you can try one at Beaverbrooks although their prices are a little whefty
