what was in the facelift

I was wondering what the E89 facelift was actually composed of ? There seems to be different answers depending on the web page you look at, does anyone here definitively know?
My car is a pre LCI 35IS but has the Pull Pull later paddles, Ive done the LED side indicators, White Halos are going on this weekend. I think black interior trim was also a thing..but was this an option or fitted to all LCI cars? I kind of like the silver carbon look of the trim i have already.
Oh and in one week..stage 1+ remap to 392 bhp :)

As far as I know, it was updated / redesigned headlights with brighter daytime running lights & redesigned indicator trim pieces.

Then some different colour options were introduced, like orange.

Speculating here but I think the regenerative breaking and active pedestrian safety etc were added in LCI models, and perhaps some other technology like that.

I think it was mentioned at some point that the roof framework was strengthened as well.
Thats a new one to me...

Yep, roof mechanism was strengthened to allow operation on the wing at higher speed
Rob

Roof was strengthened in 2012 prior to LCI...allows higher closure speed..25mph vs 15mph I believe..

Incorrect these were all standard at initial launch..

Mine is a 2012 model and definitely closes at 20mph, my other half 420d cab cuts off well before that.

Are you sure about the active pedestrian safety bit? I’ve seen older e89’s that didn’t have the under-bonnet rams fitted?

From the BMW 2009 Z4 UK Brochure Part No 95 38 3 098 908 September 2009

"Brake Energy Regeneration
The alternator disengages automatically when the
battery is fully charged, only re-engaging when
the battery needs charging. In addition, the system
engages automatically when the car’s brakes are
applied or when coasting, to recycle otherwise
wasted energy. (Standard on all models.)"

The NCAP 2015 BMW Z4 18i crash test report states "VIN From Which Rating Applies - all Z4s"

I would fine it difficult to see how such a fundamental variation to certification would be slipped in, in production , en passant..

Mines an early E89 (2009) and has brake energy regeneration, its listed on the build sheet

What's the story with the different front bumpers? Is it an m-sport vs non m-sport option rather than LCI?
Just asking as my 2010 35i (not m-sport) doesn't have the plastic 'inserts' on each side of the front of the bumper which I thought pre-LCI (or non m-sport) models had. I much prefer the bumper without them (lucky for me), but aren't sure what determined whether they have them or not.
Hope this makes sense?
