What tyres for Z4 3.0 with 17inch wheels.

I saw a car today at an auction, I was going to bid, but it needed tyres and a roof motor. The ones on the car were XL 225/45/17 all round.
I rang my tyre guy and he said it shouldn't have run flats and the rear tyres should be wider than fronts.
He suggested 225/45/17 and 245/40/17????

What should it have, wheels were 7 spoke (style 103) 17 inch. Original fit.

My 2.5i had 17" Style 103 alloys on when I bought it.
It was fitted with Continental RFTs in 225/45 R17 all round and I believe this type of tyre and size on 8j x 17 all round was factory fitment.
I fitted staggered 18" MV3 alloys, 8J fronts and 8.5J rears shod with non run-flat Avon ZZ5s, 225/40 R18 front and 255/35 R18....much, much, much better !
