I want to put together a decent roadside toolkit, and was wondering what y'all carry in your Z4 when using runflat tires. Does anyone carry a full torx set, flares, battery jump starter, large flashlight, etc. ? Post your pics showing what tools you carry and where you stow 'em. Be sure to vote in the poll.

I currently carry a Surefire flashlight, a headlamp, Mechanix glovers, a Leatherman multitool, extra golf tees (for a REAL emergency), and a few screwdrivers and vice-grip wrenches. I'd like to know what everyone else carries, so I can beef up my tool set while carrying only the essentials. I'm looking into battery jumper packs at the moment.

Dont use runflats, but carry a continental air pump with separate glue canister, wheel brace with plastic sleeve (does not damage alloys), small jack from a 3 series, torch, socket set and some other bits.

Well worth carrying some bits with you :wink:
 
just a compressor and 2 cans of tyre weld.

unless you have a space saver a wheel brace and jack are useless.
 
I use non-rft's/so i carry the basic bmw toolkit,wheel brace(in case i need to remove/refit wheel,etc), 2 cans of tyreweld,plug-in compressor with torch/warning lts in the boot,and a mini maglite torch inside the centre storeage area,inside the car.
Always worth having something to hand :driving:
 
BMW toolkit + BMW spare lightbulbs/fuses and warning triangle, A LED headlight, jumper cables, a few tie-raps, oil and several towels/rags. In winter conditions complemented with additional clothing and screenwash (why the Z4 has no warning light for that is beyond me).
 
shambolic, lift up your trunk floor. The battery and your tool kit (if you have one) will be there.
 
Reading another post on the forum ( http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23690 ) motivated me to update this thread. I've added to my tool kit, and thought I'd share, for the benefit of those wanting to upgrade theirs.

Harbor Freight has the Chicago Electric 5-in-1 portable power pack for $99, (coupon online good through through 12/31/10 knocks off 20%). It includes a 600 amp battery jumper, 260 psi air compressor, two 12 volt outlets, 6 LED worklight, 400 watt inverter with two outlets, and rubberized housing. It seems to get good reviews, so it's now in my trunk. I've also added some winter clothes for emergencies (fleece jacket, wool socks, etc.), a large Maglite (which doubles as a defensive weapon), and a wrench roll to hold my screwdrivers, etc.
 
I carry the genuine BMW mobility kit that sits in the left depression on the boot. Compressor and gloop
T bar and socket for wheel removal stowed in the battery box
Scissor jack zip tied down on the floor of the engine bay at the rear corner

On longer journeys I drop a 17" spacesaver in the boot

Beyond that RAC card and credit card
 
I have stored near my battery:

Green Flag membership
Jump leads (already used them half a dozen times since sept this year helping random people in supermarkets!)
Tyre compressor
Maglight torch
stock bmw tool kit
Swiss army knife

Since changing to non rft's the only chnage i have made is to carry two cans of tyre weld in a BMW oil bag in the boot.

Anybody actually used Tyreweld ?

step 1: remove object causing puncture...

you might need some tools for that
and if might be easier to take the wheel off to find/remove it
 
So being a new Z4 owner, is that little black (with red edging) pouch with a few bits in and the triangle all that the car comes with?

I believe that is correct. That's why I supplemented this OEM minimalist kit with my own concoction.
