What to use to clean the exhaust tips?

Autosol and elbow grease... Though I am liking the drill and rag idea.

By the way Ali - those pipes look brilliant ! I have to say my obsession has increased a notch as I now take my chrome tips off the car to clean them

Autosol as well, but first time they need quite a bit of attention inside so a dremel and rubbing compound worked a treat finished off with Autosol.

Autosol also..... still trying to work out if the tips come off though :?

I assume yours don't have screws holding them on or you'd have found them by now. If they are anything like mine they should, but they need a bloody good hard pull and twist. In fact several twists back and forth. There are three flat bent steel 'springs' holding them on with pressure, plus another one bent the other way to slip into a notch on the pipe itself.

I used autosol initially to clean them , since then in the last 12 months they don't get dirty enough to need other than a wipe round ( the n52 engine runs very clean) Don't forget autosol removes metal as well as deposits

Ah so the inside's are supposed to be shiney as well! I spent an hour doing mine by hand the other day.....I may see how much a dremel costs!!
