What to use after washing ??

I'm keepying fingers crossed that I'll be able to break out the wash mitt and pressure washer to give the little lady a well needed clean (it's been a couple of weeks).

My main question is what should I use after washing with meguirs gold shampoo ??

I normally have a machine polish twice a year which helps keep her looking top notch but feel I should be doing something extra in between !

Also, if i use a trffic film remover pre wash will this remove all the polish/wax from the painwork or just the nasty traffic film ?

Thanks all

A wax every other wash will keep the car beading water and make cleaning easier. Hundreds of waxes out there, plenty discussions on them (and some heated debate if memory serves me correct).

The traffic film remover will probably take some of the wax off, so a re-wax won't do any harm

Agree with adamski wax every other wash, would recommend autoglym hd wax expensive but great results

A wax every second wash is completely unnecessary. (No harm in it) but realitically a good quality wax will last 2-3months wihtout the need for reapplication. Mine was done 4months ago and its still beading nicely.

Wintertime move away from waxed and onto Nano Seals.

As said, waxing every other wash is OTT, waste of time.

For best results, wash the car properly (inc clay etc) twice a year, machine polish if needed, a good quality glaze (blackhole/amigio) followed by a good wax.

After that you want to wash it with a good Shampoo which won't strip all your hard work!
Zaino Z7 is good.

You can then add something I've zaino z6 to top up!

The zaino gear gets thumbs up by most.

If your having to machine polish twice a year you need to look at your washing technique

Once a year is probably more than enough

Realistically I wouldn't be looking to machine polish again for a long time, washing with a good quality mit and two bucket method and drying with a drying towel you wouldn't re-introduce swirls and marks

If you read it again, I said machine polish it only if needed...
My point being you should be applying and moving wax and layers at least twice a year! Claying isn't always needed either, just an example.

My bad! Agree with you though, it shouldn't need polishing that often.
Get some nice slick shampoo, a decent wash mitt and drying towel and pressure washer ideally. Blot dry etc, use 2 bucket method as above.

If you're needing to wax every other wash then you need to look at what products you are using to wash. After waxing you need to use a very mild shampoo so as not to strip the wax - nothing wrong with using a snowfoam either as long as its PH neutral and contains no TFR.

Also if your wax is coming off too easily after washing you need to think about how you are applying it. Are you leaving it long enough before removing the residue? I normally leave the car around an hour with the wax applied then buff off - leave inside if possible, then 24hrs later repeat the process. That will give you 2 strong coats of wax which have fully cured. This will then really improve the longevity of the wax.

Obviously different waxes have different curing processes but this works great with DodoJuice PH.

Again machine polishing...i'm once a year, but i may step it up to twice, as it does start to look a bit ropey after 6months. You have to consider what the car is used for...Day to day, toy, track. Also the location, (Hot and cold countries) all impact the condition of your paint.

For me a quick wash is all that suffices. I may if i'm feeling brave give the bus a coat of blackhole or CG blitz the next month.

megs gold class paste wax , retty good but waxed a few too many panels last time and the sun came out, first buff off left a very smeary finish but then buffed twice more with clean microfibres and the smears dissapear to leave a very good finish.

Mine's probably due a little bit of TLC. Not a full correction just a mild going over with a fine cutting polish and appropriate pad. For post polish I've just bought Auto Finesse Rejuvenate and Collinite 476 wax. I'm also going to try some Iron X as well for a post-wash, pre-clay treatment.

I use Meguires high tech pro. yellow paste #26. Very happy with it and easy to apply.

This is where the Zed lives. And right in front of it's little house is a very nice wash station with a sink and counter to keep everything off the floor. The good lord was watching out for us when we rented this place.
