What to replace my Audi A8...?

Would have bought a Maserati but could not justify the fuel costs or travelling for over an hour to get it serviced.

I've looked at this now, gorgeous thing but the nearest dealers are indeed at least an hour away. Can't face it, the first couple of times would be OK but it would rapidly become a pain

another vote for Tesla :)

My dad has one, uses it for daily long distance travel (anywhere from 50-500 miles each way..), range really isn't the issue you'd expect it to be anymore, definitely worth speaking to them to help with any concerns.

Bit of a curve ball but beautiful looking car
Maserati Ghibli
Interior quite nice too

Roof line and windows are very Aston Martin. 8) I could live without the OTT headlighs. But ye that's a looker for me too.

runflat tyres (so BMW is a no).

So you dont want runflat tyres because you want a spare tyre? (probably a space saver tyre)

I dont know how many cars nowadays can carry one. I struggle with the same problem (for work I go to a lot of shipping yards, heavy industry etc, and those terrains are often littered with small metal stuff, a runflat is only useable if you're close to home).

That is beautiful but it's not a production Ghibli, it's a preproduction mock-up. Look at the rear window line and roof line, nothing like the production car.

The Ghibli and the Tesla are out. Leaving the cost out of it, I can't have a 60 odd mile drive to the dealer... Audi has offered a £22k discount on a new A8 so that's still an option...

Think someone mentioned a Jag up above, a nicely specced XF would be a good shout :)

If that's a concern, you should stop buying cars that break so much!

I'm averse to anything that inconveniences me unduly; having to drive to Colchester or Peterborough to drop a car in to the dealer for its service is not something I welcome. At a minimum and without traffic that's an hour each way, twice, per service... or a single trip of an hour there and back plus sitting around for however long whilst they do it.

Its a fair position to be in - however as a result of that I would argue its worth checking which dealers are within a reasonable range first before embarking on which cars as it obviously will restrict your brand choices.
