so ive done my wheels and interior of the car now i want to do the bit i dread polishing

ive been looking about and everything seems to get great reviews it bewildering.

i think i need to clay the car as when you wash it its horrible and rough. so i was looking at getting the 3M as its a big bar 200g but it says its a medium cut. whats that all about? alternative was a carpro set that had 3x100g that had a soft medium and hard bars in. whats the difference?
i was liking the look of the born slippy lube so that seems a good plan and not too bad for the one you dilute yourself.

after that i have no idea what to do. the car is the merlot red colour. i remember it being mentioned to me here to clay, polish, glaze and seal in that order. am i right.

last thing is im likely to be parking under trees from now on so i wanted something that would help keep the car nice and protect from the tree/bird s**t

oh and i guess i ought to buy a decent bucket too to wash it with.... would love a snow foam thingy but have no way to run a power washer, or actually have a power washer either.... lol

You can get different grades of clay usually fine, medium, aggressive. if i were you i would stick to a fine clay if you do not have a machine polisher as they tend not leave behind their own marring (fine scratches if you will) like a medium or aggressive clay can. A fine clay will still remove all the bonded particles from your paint but it may struggle with tar spots or sap which a more aggressive clay would pull off no worries, but i would also invest in some iron-x and a tar remover to use BEFORE using your clay as those 2 will remove most of the bonded contaminents before you touch it with clay.

As for clay lube i personally just use some dilluted car shampoo in a squirt bottle which is fine to lubricate a fine clay.

You are spot on with the order of doing things too, clay, polish, glaze, seal. At the moment on my car i have Prima Amigo glaze with Finishkare 1000p high temp sealant over it, which i applied in September and it still feels nice a slick and beading water very well, so if you're not into monthly waxing then that will be a perfect combo for you and it will be very good at resisting the sap sticking to your car.

Hope thats helps
