What to check at final warranty service

My zed runs out of warranty in a few weeks, and I've booked it to get the leaky boot checked. (I'm not convinced they fixed the problem, they just replaced the centre brake light that had a vertical crack)

So anyway, I was wondering what else should be checked while its there ?

Any other TSBs that would apply to a 2006 3.0 si ?

I'm not the original owner, so don't think extended warranty is an option?

Haven't had any paperwork about it, only the BMW roadside assistance (Which I did renew)

I not the original owner of mine and they offered to extend - maybe that was the approved used though :idunno:

didnt take it though...

You cant take extended warranty if you like even if your not the original owner, either pay monthly or yearly.

How much is the extended warranty?

I was just told I'll get a login in a few weeks, then check on the site.

I was told there are various levels of cover - but how much are they? 2004 3.0 AUC btw.

Seeing as I must've spend around £5000 on the warranty this year, I think I may extend it!!

BMW spent £5000 on the warranty.

One faulty rain gel/sensor, £10-£60 to fix, but fit a new screen + BMW labour = £800...

Not saying don't do it, but BMW are probably down £500.

Well, this year I had:

New dual stage intake stuff
New SMG pump
New clutch
New SMG relay
New Sat Nav screen
New rear spring
New interior handles
Wheels (108s) refurbed 3 times
Leather repaired on M Sport seat

I think that's it - but the car is pretty sorted now, and shouldn't cause any issues for years to come, it's just the 'what if'.

I guess it depends if you are a DIY'er and tinkerer etc, or someone who just would use BMW even out of warranty. BMW just swap whole chunks of the car to fix it, when it might just be a small thing thats broken :D

Not saying it's bad to use BMW either way, if I had the money to have bought an AUC, and keep up the warranty, I would :) Looks like you have a load of 'new' parts essentially for free, which is nice :D

My trunk was leaking too... it was from over the right brake light under the lid. Poured a cup of water over it and it was coming straight through the top screw.

Undid it, put a rubber washer under it, tightened and poured another cup. Stopped the leak.

Don't let BMW charge you your limbs for a rubber washer and 2 hours of labor!
