I've read pages and pages on here about installing the aux leads for your ipod/iphone. I followed the advice and I called both BMW dealer and Mini Dealer to get part quotes. BMW said either the aux connector kit or specific iPod kit had to be fitted my them as the car needed to be updated to know the install has been done. He said "it's not something you can fit yourself". So, i called the mini dealer and they said all aux are mini specific parts only.

So I'm totally lost now.

Again, i've read every thread on here and they go on for so long the information is overwhelming. Can some simply give me the part number for the BMW aux or ipod connector please?

Can someone also confirm the stealer is talking rubbish and that i can simply plug and play muself?

Thanks folks

dont bother asking the dealer - i went straight to the parts department and bought the mini part, 65120308752, which is the aux in kit for the mini (the one in the aux thred with the plate that says auxiliary input, it was ordered no questions asked at my local bmw dealer - they can also get mini parts as its the same company!. it just plugs into the back of the head unit, any monkey can do it, i got all the info i needed from this thred http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1483

i think the dealers are pulling your leg, simple aux in does not require an update, dont know about the ipod kits though

I did mine today
I actualy tested it outside the dealers l
and managed to get the vents out, radio out
and cable in within 5 mins

it took me a while longer to figure out how to
co locate Bluetooth , the cd changer and
aux all at the same time, but if you see
my latest post it gives you the most important
information on how to get it all going

if your don't have BMW Bluetooth then it's a 5 min job
