What this forum, and z4 ownership means to me/us.

As above,
Like many of is,I have had several weeks in Lockdown, and really missing getting out in my z and especially on the forum meets that had been planned.
Now,don't think I am taking this Pandemic lighty,as I am not,I know how badly its affecting lots of people around the world, killing thousands in its wake.

I am just reflecting on what z4 ownership means to me these days.
Having owned one z or another for around 13/14 years now,I started out doing some BMW car club drives and some z4-forum meets/drives....but these were always way outnumbered by solo drives or days/weekends with my Wife.

Fast forward to recent years, and now having a son, me and my Wife can't just up and go a drive in the z together...so I now appreciate the forum runs more than ever.
And I have to say,I'm missing them, majorly :driving:

While actually getting out for a drive in my z today, I went on a few good driving roads not too far from me,and as enjoyable as it was in some reasonable weather,I felt something was lacking.....the sight and sound of a group of z4s,and some other tasty such like cars, along with me to enjoy the drive with.
The feeling of not "total enjoyment" may have partly been down to feeling guilty about taking the long way to/from doing some Grocery shopping, and feeling guilty for being out in the z,roof down...and even got a few questionable looks from some people when passing through towns, yet they don't react same to bikers, lol.

Let's hope they find a cure/medicine to deal with this as quickly as can be expected, and we can get back to those days of wonderful z4-forum meets around the Country  :driving:

Stay safe, and all the best folks :D

Hi Craig, I see from the time of your post you must be suffering from insomnia!

I agree with you that the sights and sounds of several zeds..especially of different configurations often brings a smile to my face, especially if I'm playing tail end charley..

Whilst I do enjoy a hoon on my own across some of the fabulous roads we have here in the Borders, I do miss the banter and the drives with the Forum guys.. :driving:

Its a kind of Mr Bean meets The Last of the Summer Wine medley!

I've attended a few runs from different clubs but they just don't seem to quite strike the appropriate balance as the Forum runs do..

I did have 45+ days of various Z4 based hooning planned this year..so far only one day experienced..

Here's to the future where through drugs/vacinnes we can get together again!

Hopefully will all get together again soon.
It’s definitely not the same hooning about on yer own.
Miss those great roads around the Dales and the sound of a bunch of zeds, and even the odd Jag.

Same here Craig, missing the company of other Zedders, while i go out for my blast down the snake into the peak dist 50ml round trip i enjoy it ,last week we had a run up to hawes ,via trough of bowland , Settle for fish n chips ( yes chippy is open  ) and up past Ribblehead viaduct ending at hawes ,which was shut .only a handfull of bikers, there. Returning home via samish route 160mls, but without the company of other Zedders defo was lacking ,deffo not the same on your own,and the fun element lacking.
Be good to get back chasing your tail again.
Do i feel guilty, No. Every man n his dog were out ,hikers, bikers ,car drivers ,oh and loads of the licra clad brigade.

Been a fare while since I did a Z4 forum run. I think it was Zedward down to Lands End. Since then each run I have planned to attend something has happen to prevent me attending. A blown tyre the day before SW run, better than on the run I guess and my mum passing away just before last years Lakes run. Not looking good for this year either. I get out with the local PH guys but your right Craig, nothing better than seeing and hearing a line of Zeds enjoying a good road. :driving:

Yes, sadly it's been a while since I last met up with some Z owners to discuss all things Z4 related.

It's just a thought, but if we stuck to social distancing might it be permitted now?

Wouldn’t we have to start exercising when we got to our destination?

I thought we were allowed to just admire the scenery now?

Was that only last October, :o It feels like years ago. :(

We love the area round Hawes having stayed at the Caravan Club Site many times over the years We had our wedding reception at the Stone House Hotel way back in 2002. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Hawes area I would recommend it. :thumbsup: ;

If you come into Hawes from the Ayesgarth Falls/Bainbridge direction turn right immediately after the Railway Station Car Park. Before you enter the short one way section. Follow the road past the entrance to the Caravan Club Site. Half a mile or so further on turn right on the bend and stone House is on the left. For many years we used to book for their New Year Party. A three day stay and great fun. Plus our Golden Retriever was welcome. Many happy memories. We were their for the millennium. Seems an age ago now. Where has the time gone? :tumbleweed:
