What sump plug

Hi all.

Did a quick search on the forum for this and found nothing (which likely means I'm being an idiot).

Can anyone help me with what sump plug I need for my car? I found the part number on realoem and put into eBay but sometimes don't trust sellers on there with non OEM parts.

Will any sump that fits the thread pitch, size etc work or..?

May I ask why you need one?
Most oil filters come with a new copper washer for the sump plug. No need to change the plug itself unless yours is damaged

It's never been changed and found the difference between getting a washer and the plug with the copper was minimal.
I've never once gotten a copper washer with any filter I've bought though... That's interesting that you bring that up.

Yeap I second Ez. It’s typically in the accompanying bag with the new o-ring seal for the oil filter housing cap.

I needed one once. Can’t remember why. If you still need one this will fit pre-facelift.

Both Mann and Bosch filters have them

More important when it comes to new filters is if they include the two small O rings that fit on the end of the filter stem. Most Brands only include the main cap O ring and a copper sump plug washer. The small stem O rings ensure the filter housing remains full of oil for the next start of the engine. Can't remember the Brand that included these small o rings last time I changed mine but they are out there.
Could have been a Mann brand filter that included them but they do sell them separately here on Autodoc and you need two of them https://www.autodoc.co.uk/spares-search?keyword=%0911427549573%09

Well, I've either never noticed or am buying dodgy products...

Oh thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely look into that. Don't want it starting up dry!

I’d just buy an OE sump from BMW (they’re not expensive). The copper washers are 43p from BMW but I’ve always had one and both rubber seals with the Mann and Bosch filters that I’ve bought.

I've ordered a Bosch one so we'll see if all bits come with it!
