What size wheels are best, 19 or 20

Hi guys, yes im new but had the car for about 6 months now, just got some money and I want new wheels :D
I really like the Alpina Dynamic 19" but not sure if there are any others that look good too.
I dont like M6 wheels as i know a lot of people do. My Z4 is a 2003 3.0 SMG in Black.
any advise or photos would be much appreciated.
Plus would I need body work modifications with 20" wheels.

'Best' is subjective.

Personally, anything bigger than 18" on a 3.0 is too big, but then 16" look too small.

You may get away with fitting 20" wheels as long as you can find 25 profile tyres to keep the overall diameter the same as OEM - and if you don't go above 265 width on the rear you should be fine.

Are you doing it for style or handling? If for style, fill your boots and go with whatever looks right to you. 19" and lowered a little looks fantastic.

I had dynamics on the last car and while I didn't really notice it at the time, there was definitely tram-lining compared to the standard 18" wheels that are on IMmie. So be prepared to sacrifice a little on the handling. Unless of course you're planning on suspension set up mods too and not just lowering ;)
 
18" or less if for performance. 18" or 19" for looks. 20' would look stupid outside of California.

Don't under estimate the deterioration of ride and compromises on fit if you go bigger. Zed's don't have forgiving suspension at the best if times.
 
CJ is right i have 19" wheels on rfts its a bone shaker and i have countless squeaks and rattles. I cant wait to fit non run flats! I think 20" wheels would be excessive ( although i have thought about it myself ) At the end of the day its your call on the looks front. But if you want a pure handling fast set up i would suggest 17" wheel or 18" max.

Im afraid to say its for looks and not peformance :oops:
I think that it will be 19's and lowered :D
Any ideas or sugestions on wheels and if poss photos.

I have 18's with winter tyres at the moment... And i am seriously tempted to sell my 19's as the ride is so much better on 18's.

Let me know if you do. I might want to add a set of csls to my colection.
 
Will let you know... If i dont sell them will get them done in a darker gun metal/ shadow chome.

Has to be shadow chrome. I have m3 wheels I was going to spray them gunmetal this weekend. But I think it's to dark! So I am going to try a DIY fix them back to standard. Dark gray iners polished face :D I got them secondhand with in a nasty silver. It's to much on a silver car. If it dose not work they will be shadow chrome.
