what size tyres on 19's?

I currently have 225/35/19 tyres on my front wheels, which are 19x8.5'' et38. I'm also lowered on eibach springs.

Could I get away with 235/35/19's on the front without them rubbing the arches?

The main reason I want the wider tyres is due to the slight stretch i have currently. But I don't want it to rub the liners.

I think the front axles maybe the same but not 100% sure.
My son fitted 9.5J on the front with ET35 on his 2.5.
Have a look here...

So your 8.5J is already 25mm narrower than his, lets call that 12mm each side for ease.
Then your offset is 3mm in your favour, so a total of 15mm difference from the wheel to arch in your favour.
Now he is running 225s but 235s are another 10mm wider on the rim so 5mm each side, you still have 10mm.

I talk no responsibility for the maths this many wines in but I think it would fit.

Must be others on here running ET38 or lower on 8.5J though with 235s??

Seems to suggest 8.5J or 9J ET40 is ok with 235/35x19. Yours is 2mm difference with the ET38.

I had 235/35 Michelin PSS on 8,5 ET34 on my 3.0si Coupe with H&R lowring springs. It rubbed alot. Now I have more negative camber and 225/35 PSS's and its all good.
Also had 9x19 ET44 with 235/35. All good before I lowered it. But after the lowering it rubbed holes in the plastic liner in the wheel wells.

S**t I hope I don't have that problem. I get my new wheels fitted later today with 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 and I'm lowered.
They advised me I would be fine.

I get rubbing with 235/35 19 on a 19x8.5 et40 wheel. Only slight and only on big bumps and compressions, but I'd be looking to fit 225's for the next tyre to see if that stops it

I've had no probs of rubbing even with my wife and luggage in the car.

I decided not to risk a wider tyre in the end and have gone for 225/35/19 fronts and 255/30/19 rear goodyear eagle f1 asym 2's. Cheapest I could get them for is £514 and they'll be fitted when the alloys get refurbished.

Can't wait to finally get rid of the awful nangkangs on the fronts.
