Hey, I know this is bone and has probably been covered a million times before but I'm struggling to find the exact information I need in one place.

I want to get some winter wheels this year ready for next winter (will need time to save after splurging on the Z).

I want to get the smallest I can get away with and so what size do I need.

What offset and width? I keen seeing 8j and et40 but I really don't understand.

Thanks for your help.

The 8j / ET40 will suit just fine on the Z , 17's may be iffy ?
Nice work sourcing through the summer , i do it myself & get some great deals on winter tyres when no-one else is buying :)

Ok, so I'm looking for a 17" with an ET of 15 or 20?

Or 18s with an Et of 40?

I need to do some serious research to find out what this all means!

Thanks for you help guys.

If its just winters why not stick with 17" daisys? Will def clear the calipers.

I got 108's for my winters... Best investment i made this yr!! Been on since november... And got me places my summer vreds wouldnt dream of!

I have some 3 series wheels (style 32's) with an awful paint job that I used as winter wheels, I could be interested in selling too, they already have tyres, (good rears, fronts are terrible run flats and very slippy).

My previous Zed was a facelift 2006 3.0si and I had no problem running 17 inch wheels for winter use. My winter tires were 225/45 -17's on 8 X 17 inch rims.

I have oem 103 8x17 et48 for winter
And oem 148 (or else..) 8x17 et34 from 3-series e9x for track use - those look far better, and no rubbing whasoever.

The 3.0si SE spec came with 17" wheels as standard (style 200), the Sport had 18" wheels (style 135 - MV2's...I think), but there isn't anything to stop you putting 17" wheels on any (standard) 3.0si. I think the confusion comes from some/all pre face lift cars being able to fit 16" wheels, but the front brakes on the 3.0si are too big to fit with 16" wheels.

If you are looking for some 17" alloys:

Not the best condition though.

It would be for winter tyres. After having them on my last car and all the fun I had earlier in the year it makes sense.
17s are easier/cheaper for new winter boots and was contemplating going a little thinner too.
