arhhhhhh inkeys..... welcome to "my" world...
let me explain.....
This year ive done 230 miles in my z4m. To say that genuinely upsets me... i've only been one 1 track-day, it seems all my car time has been the stolen few hours in the evening when he's sleeping... I became a single dad 11 months ago... sadly his mother couldn't cope, had pretty severe PND and went down a life path that me and my son simply couldn't follow, i had no choice but to turn back and walk away, this left me trying to be a dad and mom to my then new borne ( let alone dealing with loosing my family and the girl is simply loved with everything i had). I had a taste of family life and i LOVED it, my happily engaged years came to a crushing halt, i can honestly say this was without doubt the darkest time of my life... low was not the word, work suffered, i couldn't go anywhere, and all my hobbies seems to slowly melt into the distance, I'm absolutely NOT ashamed to say i have cried myself to sleep many a night in this last year, the sleepless nights and trying to run the businesses was torture, BUT here's what I'm getting too... it quickly became apparent that my love for the motor vehicle was going to have to "change" for a little bit, driving the car was to become a distant dream. For me that first bit of fatherhood i felt that my life was over.. new parents that are tired get that feeling alot i think....
Where to turn from here?? well the internet! it became my way of exploring the car scene more and more and more love for motoring seems to grow and grow, i decided that id use the car minimally and use this year as a build/test year, in my head it made me feel better and made sense to me, so gradually i purchased all the little bits i wanted and in the evening id go into the garage and fit, test, and drive the car around the house with the baby monitor on the seat always keeping a stern eye on my baby boy. In the end im now at this point....
The car is doing great albeit on about 11,000 miles.. ( i know) i found a new way to enjoy the car for the planned year i wouldnt use it, and ive really ENJOYED just getting my hands dirty and fitting, testing, more fitting of all my little additions, i think what im trying to get at is, in my situation it was kind of essential to keep it, to keep me smiling, and it worked!! Just because were dads we dont need to give up all the fun things in our life's, we can still enjoy them, you just got to understand it may take a while before you can enjoy things as they were before :wink:
Todays update???????... my son was borne may 28th 2011, i was on my own with him from October 31St 2011, I'm coming up to my 1 year anniversary... has it got better??? OMG You BET!!! time in the house is bordering on hilarious, gone are the sleepless nights and i get a good night most evenings, im back at work with all my brain cells in place, our "routine" is completely painless and they really do adapt but YOU have to make this work for you, he spends lots of time in the garage with me and has truly become my best friend in the making, our bond is unbreakable, football in the hallway is a particular fave of ours

im glad ive kept the ZEd and im really excited to finally be opening a new chapter... i think me, Anthony and the z4m are going to have a blast
To summarize??? You never ever know what's round the corner, so keep the little things in life that please YOU ;-)
if you can afford to keep the z4 and you truly love it, KEEP it!!
i wish you and the family all the best in the world, its so nice to read about a new family doing it together
( excuse that huge post)
