What servicing do I need doing?

The car is almost 2 years old now, so will need an Oil Service and the brake fluid change. Does it need anything else? I see 'Coolant' listed on the service options, which adds another £130! Any ideas?

On the plus side, I've just checked my tread depths on the rear, and at 17,000 miles, they're still on just over 5mm.

Mine should cost me £150 for the oil service, and £65 for the brake fluid, so £215 all in. Is that good? That's the fixed price servicing at Dick Lovett BMW in Swindon.

Need to call them and ask if I can use my own oil to bring the price down... Probably won't make much difference though when the price is only £150 to start with I suppose.

Oh, and why has a clock now come up above the 'Oil Service 1900 miles' writing? It wasn't there before, but it certainly isn't due the service yet.

I could be wrong here and my owners manual is not to hand to check, but I believe the clock appearing means it's time for a brake fluid change.

Clock means brake fluid change. I was charged £6o for brake fluid change. I have spoken to many a mechanic regarding the brake fluid change and they tell me it's a load of bxxxxxxs. I still went for it anyway but the next time it needs the brake flid changed i will just be reseting the clock myself.

So it needs doing right now?! It should be at 2 years, shouldn't it? It's a bit annoying if I have to book it in twice for the brake fluid, then in a month the oil service.

No, you don't have to do it right now. Get them both done in a month.

I noticed a change to the braking performance straight away after having mine changed, much more positive and responsive -certainly not bxxxxxxs :D

Oil Service intervals are mileage based, but if you dont hit those miles in two years then that take priority, I was in similar position with around 1,500 miles left but ran out of time.

IIRC you have a 30 day window on time based service to retain you warranty, best call you dealer and ask them the latest tim you can book it in.

I'm going to get it booked in, definitely. Checked the date showing for my brake fluid change, and it's next month! (even though the car was registered in August...)
