I bought a 2008 Z4 3.0si and according to everything it came with a standard mp3 playing radio but mine only says business cd. Is there any where i can find pictures of what the THX or Hd radio should look like and How do i find out if this is the right radio for the car?

yes on a 2008 - the car is a facelift and will have the MP3 compatibility, only the pre-facelift silver fronted radios are not MP3.

Radio is the same whatever system you (except nav, which again is one type).

Do you have the two cubby holes behind the seats, or large speaker grills?

Cubby holes =6 speaker std system. Speaker grills =10 speaker middle/top system.

Facelift with dsp will have amp in the boot on the bulkhead behind the carpet.

srhutch has covered it all there!

But in case you haven't found it, the jack for using MP3s isn't on the head unit - it's in the bottom of the dash. :?

Oh, and welcome to the forum by the way!

We'd love to see some photos of your car. :)

haven't found the Aux jack yet but i took a pic of the head and whats behind the seats. Ill take pics once i get it back from the shop. It needs a new rim battery valve cover cam sensor lower a arms and well also a front plate holder. Ive had it a month put on 200miles and have to pay for repairs. I should have just ordered one at this point. 20180213_173551.jpg20180213_173520.jpg

Im hoping for good news and i have the right radio. next i have to figure how to connect my phone to it.

Based on that photo you seem to have speakers instead of cubbies meaning you have a 10 speaker stereo, so at least middle or maybe top spec.

If you put your head in the driver's foot-well and look up towards the climate control temperature knob hopefully you will see the MP3 input jack before you crick your neck or get blurred vision!

But if you don't you could always look in the glove box (just in case - that is where I found the MP3 jack in my current one)!

If your car really doesn't have an MP3 input, I seem to remember these people were recommended on here! I'm sure they will make up whatever you want.

Aux only became std on 2007 model year cars (UK cars). You can check when it was made as the build date as on one of the front strut towers.

As above you have mid/top system. So there should be limited dsp functions on that head unit if it has dsp. The other option is to check if there is an amp on the firewall.

Op never mentioned aux... Just mp3

Hence my suggestion mp3 compatible headunits (whicg play mp3 cds) are the black fronted ones, which the op has

Did they move the DSP amp from next to the battery on the facelift?

This must mean I have an MP3 connection in my MR. :D Good to know I guess, in case I lose all my CD's :P

Yes, probably to stop it getting flooded.
