What psi are the Ps4 chaps running

So this morning I just had some sexy new pilot sport 4 tyres fitted to the zed replacing the brand new rubbish tyres the car had on before. What's the deal with the psi.

They were set to 34/34 but In all my years I have never had a car set up with the front and rear psi the same.

I'm aware all tyres run differently so this will be pilot sport specific.

33-34 front - 34-36 rear & see how you go , those numbers seem to work well whatever brand are fitted with staggered 18 fitment

I keep mine close to the recommended stock values 2.3 and 2.7 BAR.. dunno what that is in PSI though. Seems fine for my usage.

2.3 - 34psi front is about right
2.7 - 39psi rear is a bit over the comfort zone for me but if it works for you then stick with it

With me having the bilstein b12 kit on most comfort is gone. I think I'll try 34/36 and go from there and update this thread with the outcome

I started with the same pressures recommended for the Z4M when I ditched the runflats (Z4M run non runflats as standard from the factory) F30 R32 and try a few psi above and below this, (try the same pressure front and rear as well) then stick with what works for you in terms of handling and comfort.
Its quite subjective tyre pressure, but its a good starting point and F30 R32 is certainly a lot more comfortable than anything higher. Its worth noting that the Z4M is about a 100KG heavier than even a 3.0 Z4 (although it does run 5% bigger sidewalls) so a few PSI lower wont/doesn't hurt. Its also worth noting the older Z3 3.0 and Z3M both run F29 & R29 on either 225/45R17 ?& 245/40R17 OR 225/40R18 and 245/40R18 tyres. They both weigh more than a 3.0 Z4, in the Z3Ms case it weights more than the Z4M at circa 150KG up on the 3.0 Z4 so even going as low as circa 28PSI etc should be alright on a Z4.
I'm pretty sure I saw an old post a while back from many years ago by CJ10Jeeper where he said he was running 28, might be worth asking him what he eventually settled on. Personally I've run circa 30/32 over about 10K now in the last 2 and half years on both standard and M tyre sizes and I've never had any funny wear issues etc. This thread has actually reminded me to experiment with a little less.

My commute consists of a 10 mile stretch of A road, 70mph all the way. It's definitely a lot more comfortable with the lower pressures, but the steering wheel feels quite twitchy.

With the higher pressures, the ride seemed to be firmer (potholes were awful), but there was less twitchyness in the steering.

I didn't think much of it, until today when I had to drive 60 miles on the M25. The steering wheel was quite frantic in moving about. It felt rather lethargic to drive (in my arms), but was a more comfortable for my back, so it seems to be a trade off.

Mind you, I do need a wheel alignment done, possibly wheel balancing also, so take the above with a pinch of salt until I get those sorted.

I can't say I've had the steering wheel frantic thing etc. I'm wondering was this most noticable around 60mph, if t was its probably a wheel balance issue.
Mine was pretty terrible to drive when I changed the shocks and springs to Eibachs until I had it aligned, the specs were well out, all over the place really. That said id had also done the front lollipops/wishbones and at the back the RTAB since it was last aligned which probably upset things more.

I opted to go for the Z4M geo settings and its been fine since

its relatively easy to get close to it. Depending on the setup on your car (springs/shocks/wheels/tyres) you can certain reduce the rear camber from the 2 deg 50' of an M Sport zed to nearer the 1 deg 50' of the M. You might not quite get all the way there without adjustable rear arms. I got just over 2 deg with eibachs on. Front wise by pulling the camber pins you can get even more camber than the M, again depending on the setup you have. I got 1.3 with eibachs on. The toe setting should be easily doable to M specs

On a side note. These are the first set of PS4s and the best tyre I've ever used on a car. Super confidence in them.

I have to admit I have some kind of fun every time I go out in mine. But yeah.....track days are a great fun day for car and driver. Certainly scrub the tyres in...... :driving:

See these camber pins everyone mentions. Is it pretty quick to do. I have b12 kit and Sach top mounts and wondering will I need to cut the pin off or does it just pull out

It unscrews in about a second! It really is that easy. They are only there in the first place to allow the machines/techs to set the initial geo at the factory

That's the bonus of running the z4 as a weekend only car. Sharpness and ultimately grip are the main priorities over comfort. Was sitting in a e89 and they are very much a cut above for liveability
