What Price should I advertise my car for?

Autos are valued higher for a couple of reasons:

1) They cost an additional £1525 when new and so some of that value comes through
2) They are rarer / harder to find and therefore command a greater price

I agree this car is much younger and has the storage pack above mine, so should have greater value as a result. However its only 3k less miles than mine, is a manual without xenons, sat nav, individual piano black interior, Hi-Fi upgrade or folding mirrors.

My car as a result should be worth at least £1k more based on market values.

Just an update on the sale the buyer wants to collect next weekend with a bankers draft

I originally agreed to this but checking on line advice is don't trust a bankers draft as they can be forged and recommends CHAPS payment so I got back to the buyer and asked for this instead

I feel a bit for him as he says this would have to be a week day but to be fair he is looking into this

Has anyone else accepted bankers draft as payment or am I right to insist on CHAPS payment

I assume this will go through on a specified day and I can view the money in my account before handing over the keys

I have taken a cheque for a car sale but waited the 7 working days for it to clear before releasing the car. Otherwise as you say only allow cash or chaps.

No need for CHAPS and the associated charges these days just a normal bank transfer will usually see the money arrive same or next working day.

These days cold hard cash is more bloody risk than electronic transfers thanks to increases in forged notes.

Thanks for the feedback, well he hasn't set up internet banking but he is going to my local bank with me to get them to transfer the money from his bank to mine in the morning then once transferred i'll give him the car.

Well the buyer came today and we went to the bank together to transfer the money, all very efficient and very comforting to see the money transfer on the screen to my account.

It was a sad moment watching the buyer drive off, but he seems a nice guy and a real petrol head so Im sure its gone to a good home.
