if you are prepared to pay that, then all good

Althought its over £300 on what others have paid (mine was damaged around the fangs, also bad flaking all along the top)

No, I'm not prepared to pay that. Maybe for my immaculate M when I had it, but not a 90k mile 2003 car!

See above - I paid £240 at BMW with the benefit of their warranty. They've made a nice job of it too.

BArgain. Maybe I'll speak to Scotthall BMW then.

That company that gave you the £600 quote really need to go sharpen their pencil...

I was thinking £150-£300. Certainly wouldnt pay more than £300 :o

That sounds very expensive. I've just had my bumper completely painted along with the front wing and wing mirror and that set me back £350. Only problem is the paint looks better than the original

Prestige in Hull (BMW approved and by all accounts one of the only bodyshops trusted in the area to do a mint job) quoted me (over the phone) a rough estimate of £180 to do the M front bumper, which is not damaged as such, but will be a colour change. It may need a few marks smoothing out, so I expect maybe a little movement to £200 for it to be perfect. They wanted £75 to fit including changing all of the vents, undertray etc. I think I can do that myself and save the £75 for something else on te car :driving:

I think for £600 I would expect to get the skirts or wings and the bonnet done too...

thats way too much. they are taking the pi$$!

I had mine done a couple of times (had it was 8 years) and it was between £200- 250. second time, i took it off and gave it to them. refitted it myself. no hardship.

as has been said before, theres no need to blend as the shut lines and the body contour make it difficult to see an exact match.

Yes, the quote was to paint just the bumper, no wings or bonnet. He did say they could do a full front end paint, wings and bonnet but I didn't get a quote for that.

Going to try another paint shop tomorrow.

Just had bumper-tailgate-front wing & roof painted for £700 inc full mop & wax! That quote you had is a complete joke  find a local paint shop & expect to pay £250 no more

Looks like I have a busy day ringing round paint shops tomorrow then. It's hard to know who will do a decent job though!

Do what I did and ring up an expensive, high quality detailer in the area and ask them which paint shop they recommend. The guys that do the 3 day details on top end cars know the best paint shops

Had some more quotes. So far:

Ross Packard - £615
Classic Restorations - £459
FW Jesty (highly recommended) - £372 (1 year guarantee)
Nuffield Accident Repair - £140 (2 year guarantee) - friend of a friend job

Probably go with the latter!

Always a hard choice if you don't know whoever is going to do the job - I've been going to a local paintshop for years ( not that I'm accident prone but I do suffer from OCD so if there's an imperfection or tiny scratch I have to have it done )

Had a small bumper scrape done by the dealers before I collected car - wasn't satisfied with the quality of the work so had it redone at my local painshop ( £120 cash ) then managed to just touch the bumper against my wife's Fiesta whilst reversing it out of my garage on to our drive - bloody annoying - small scratch - £90 cash.

They did a perfect job without taking bumper off - personally I would prefer doing it this way as invariably it never goes back on as well as it did in the factory.

dan yeates, looks like it fits fine ? That is a right mess though - worth £140 to sort out

I really need to sort the bonnet / bumper gap on mine again

Just around the nearside headlight the gap is a bit big. Otherwise it's ok.

What about overspray? I worry that it will get onto the car. Not a big deal I suppose as I'm going to get it detailed anyway.

I curbed my Z4 front bumper quite badly after a few weeks of ownership, had it repaired for £150. They didnt spray the whole bumper but you couldnt see where it had been blended in.

well when i got my car it had a slight dent in front wing and curbed bumper, as well as few stone chips badly repaired on bonnet and a scratch on door.

So took it to one place local as it was easier, and tbh the paint finish under laquer was shocking (orange peel like), they forgot to repair the wing, the door was crap could see and feel where it was done. and some parts of laquer had like pin pricks in. oh and over scpray on windscreen :/ As there was so much wrong I didnt pay.

Just got car back today, from a different place, I`ve had full bonnet, full bumper (taken off and prepped), top of one wing to blend, other wing and dent sorted, part of door blending and scratch sorting, and the 2 pillars side of windscreen due to 2 stone chips.

Total cost was 600, and tbh its a great job, the fella only did 2 minor things, bit of polish left between a gap which he cleaned out, and near the reflector on bumper was slight laquer run, which he polished out.

I would recommend the fella he`s from Leeds behind Costco

Had a quote this morning by a small garage for £250 to respray the front spoiler and nose cone.
This is the second that has come in at that price. The other was a National, - Dentmaster.
