What petrol (or Gas for guy over the pond!) do you use?

The Americans do have it better than the rest of the world when it comes to petrol.

Petrol seems to get more expensive the further north you go here in Scotland. I'm usually about £45.00 to fill it.

I was in robbed by an ethnic minority at a BP in Newcastle at the start of April. Think it was something like 109.9p per litre.

I've also noticed that petrol is cheaper in Glasgow than it is here 20 miles away.

Stopped going to the BP in Regent Street, Greenock as they are currently charging, 107.9p per Litre for BP Ultimate. Questioned them a number of times about how they can justify the cost when it's over 10p per litre cheaper 5 - 20 miles away.

I only use Super Unleaded or similar. If I don't go to BP then it's usually Esso. Tesco if I'm in a hurry or going to be doing only motorway driving.

Nothing lower than 98RON.

Me too! Only since recently though, I think there is a noticeable difference in the running of the engine, not saying more power or anything like that, but it is definitely happier on 98.

I use Shell or Sunoco 93, and fortunately I live 3 miles from Englishtown Raceway (NJ), so once in a while I'll mix in 3 gallons of 100 octane if I'm going out to really drive...

43-47.00 USD per tank (93oct)

6-8/gallon (100oct)

The cost of petrol has gone up to its highest prices in history. However, what seperates the USA from many many countries including the UK is the amount of tax that is rendered.

Where is Englishtown Raceway? I'm just outside of Philly in NJ.

Hey Fellow Newjersian.....E-town is in Old Bridge, NJ

site: http://www.etownraceway.com/

Outside Philly, hmmm....well I work in Princeton, NJ; about 30min from Philly. It takes me about 30 minutes to get to home (Old Bridge, NJ) from work, so I figure you are about an hour away.

Its a cool place if you're into Drag Racing/Karts/Motocross but they have built a road racing course, but it's not complete yet, but I am itching.....soon...

Too kewl. All I have down here is the Atco Raceway (just a drag strip). I might have to check that place out sometime... thanks for the link.

Always Super, V-Power, Ultimate.. whatever flavour you want - but 98-Octane and over.

She also loves it when we go to the 'Ring. They brew them stronger over there (V-Power = 100RON on the continent). :D

During summer I use the higher grade fuels... I'm using BP Ultimate 98 at the moment... it claims to give better mileage.... hard to tell really, but it's possible. During the winter I switch back to 95.

Filled the car up on Saturday with Esso Super Unleaded at 100.9p per litre.

There was about 1 gallon (4.5 litres or so) left in the tank and it took £48.00 to fill it.

Just curious, would you know what of the 100.9p per litre is tax?

48.35p per litre of unleaded fuel. BUT, VAT at 17.5% is also charged on the purchase amount (tax + markup) so if you are buying fuel for 100pence per litre you're paying about 65p in tax.

I have only used 93 octane in it, which equates to 97/98 in Europe. I'm paying around 3.25 a gallon here.
