Alright, new to me car, need to change all the fluids. First bimmer and therefore I am asking all questions before I proceed. What oil are y'all using and filter in the states? (I have N52 engine)

Thanks.

I usually use Mann Filters and Millers Nanodrive. Now Millers Performance.

Go to Real OEM and look up the part number for the filter.

Oil that meets the or exceeds the recommendations from BMW will be good enough.

Over 100k miles and use a thicker oil.

What is in it? How often was it serviced?

fuchs titan race pro s 5w-40 for me. Similar to millers nanodrive above, Both are ester based synthetics, I found they make a huge difference to reduce tappet noise etc over the standard shell/castrol stuff.

Mann filters also, Had a K&N oil filter which lasted 4/5 months then collapsed in on itself and was making a horrible noise.

Not much of a clue as I bought it used recently and did not get service records with it. It is around 90K miles.

I can get the Mann's filters in the states but not sure of the oils mentioned. Anyone from the states want to chime in? Thanks.

Millers Oils NANODRIVE CFS 5w-40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil

Great stuff, I recently swapped to it from Castrol's M spec oil.

Only place I saw this was amazon and it was over $100 for 5Q. Not paying that price for oil!

Any decent LL04 oil is good. I use Fuchs oil on mine and as it gets changed more often that BMW extended service intervals aka every 5k miles, there isnt a huge need to buy oils mined from Mars :D

LL04 is a bmw term correct? Again, I am in the states. I am used to 5W30, etc :D

I saw this posted on another forum but it was for the M:
Recommended: 5.5L
Castrol TWS Motorsport SAE 10w-60 Synthetic
Castrol Formula RS 10w-50 Synthetic

Does this translate to a 3.0i?

No it doesn’t.

The N52B30 (3.0si) takes 6.5 litres of oil.

I would recommend using Castrol Edge 5w30 and a Genuine BMW filter.

How many quarts does the 3.0i take (N52)?

I use Castrol Edge 5W30 European Formula. It meets the BMW spec.

This is the correct filter right?
