At 6 ft tall my knees rest at the key and door handle :D I don't mind that but, some knee pads would be a real asset after about 2 hours of twisty roads. Has anyone made their own or any aftermarket options?

I've got a spare pair of e85/6 black ones that I was going to use for a project (involving some knee protection for track days) - but I got proper bucket seats instead which solved the problem.

You're welcome to them for the cost of postage (unless you're local to either Liverpool or Heathrow).

You'll have to remove the plastic tabs, then find a way to trim them and affix them some way (maybe double-sided velcro for adjustment/removal?

i have some well used RST knee sliders... :P

in all seriousness i can relate, are there genuine things available for this type of thing?

the Mercedes seating position was a deal breaker for me, I pretty much refused to drive the car (Wife's not mine) because of the seating position so we always went out in mine

The X3 seating position is fine but longer journeys in the Z4 I do start to notice the seating limitations..

Hi mmm. That would be a great start. But since I'm across the pond shipping may be excessive. I've been googling around. Haven't found anything specifically made for the E89. I may try something ready made from ebay or Jimz sliders :P :P

Do you have stores in the US that sell Personal Protective Equipment for the construction industry ? Floor layers in the construction industry use knee pads for obvious reasons, in the uk we can several styles from a company called Screwfix for just a few pounds and they come complete with adjustable straps. Any thing from simple foam items up to gel core pads. Other stores sell the same type of thing.

For personal protection ... knee pads are not the first thing that comes to mind
But yes, knee pads of all sorts are available. Wore a few pairs out myself when I wore a younger mans cloths.
I noodled around ebay and ordered some generic black leather knee pads for cars for just a few dollars. I will report back when they arrive
