What makes a car hold it's value?

Who decides what a 2nd hand car is worth? Market demand?

A very big can of worms, but rarity/exclusivity/genre, followed by is it any good / perceived bang for buck, closely followed by target audience (can they afford it), but probably a big influencer is the general media/publications front ... lots of articles on the z4c/mc in the last 6-8 months including evo etc doesn't hurt

No, the particular point I was referring to was:

probably had its fair share of hammer around a track which cant help its longevity.

I.e. the tracked versus non tracked debate, not the high miles versus low ones. Stick with the program

For me personally I would prefer a car that hadn't been tracked...but then at least its been used!

Speaking to the guys down at Munich Legends, they believe that forum communities can play a big part in an enthusiast's cars value.
