Hi guys,

Hope all well and ready for Christmas.

I have a 3.0 E85 with a MAF sensor gone. Am I correct in saying the original MAF sensor is Siemens? Any ideas if any other makes works just as well as I am struggling to find one that isn't stupid amounts of money ie nearly £400 (whaaaaaaat) haha. I can get a Hella manufactured MAF from Euros at £240, is that any good and would it work? Would really appreciate your feedback on this as mine has died and the car is not running happily.

Many thanks

J

In my experience go oem every time for Maf sensors, avoid unknown makes and ebay cheapies, they seldom work right or not at all. Buy cheap pay twice. Oem one fitted to my 1.9 Z3 correcyted the issue I had straight away. I did try cleaning the old one with Maf cleaner but all that did was kill it. Stick to Bosch or Siemens.

conversely, i bought an ebay special for £50, and... it works just fine.

though that said, the z4 is my second car, and if the new MAF didnt work i'd just unplug it and carry on. i only bought a new one because with the MAF unplugged, the car wont let me heel and toe for some reason, which was annoying on a track car.

similarly if it fails after only 10,000 miles thats fine too, as i only do 2000 miles a year, i'll just buy another one in 5 years time, if i still have the car then!

Hi guys, thank you all for your replies. I went for a oem Hella Maf and the car has never run better. Thank you all for your input. My old one had burnt out interesting enough but I think was a cheap one. Again thank you so much. The knowledge from everyone on here is great. Happy new year
