What lights are these?

are they not just the standard pre faccelift ones tinted red? Alot of people have done it I think, I like it, theres a company on ebay selling them already done for £215

Seen these before, you can get from ebay in the U.S (possibly uk as well?) some red vinyl cut outs to cover the amber spots. the issue though is the indicator isnt amber anymore, more red when flashing. i was going to try it but ended up converting some german lights to get the 4 clear/white quad rear light look instead.
 
Thanks v.much. I'll have another look for a thread on here on a DIY solution. Am guessing there may be a UK MOT issue for red flashing indicators.
 
the way to get around the red indicator is to use green bulbs not white, you'll then get an orange flash which will pass an MOT.
(a few manufacturers use this method nowadays with all red rear lights)
 
Cheers TH3R4POR. If anybody can point me in the right direction of the red film I'd need that would be great. If anybody has actually done this themselves it would be good to hear about too.

I'd prefer using spray rather than film to be honest, you'll get a better result.

don't forget some clear coats over the top.

Thanks powerontap, Could you recommend what my search term should be, or better still do you have a link to somebody selling them on eBay? Otherwise I can see myself searching the pages for [non-Volkswagen] eons :?
 
I have done something similar with mine - although they were too red, I cut it back with acetone and started again to leave a little orange. Trouble, I think, the spray I used is designed to let the original light through. I tried the follow:
Clear bulb
Orange bulb
Orange LED Tower - from China, flashes too fast
Green bulb

Have stuck with the orange. Don't know if a red lens would work better with the green. If change to a colour bulb you may need to change the carrier - I just bought one from the post facelight lights.

You should be able to see what spray I used if you click Lights in my sig.

They flash red, not amber or anything similar to that, red. I searched on eBay but the seller is not posting them at this time. I'll see if I can find his name and post it here.

It would be nice to see a dark black version - you could get rid of the amber without having to cover the whole light and get pwned by the police all the time... :)

Cheers PawnSacrifice. I'll look into the spray option and in the meantime have also ordered some Lamin-X film as a fallback option. Two [probably stupid] questions.

1. Can you recommend a good bulb vendor?

2. When spraying are you coating the outside or inside of the light cluster? Logically I'd have thought the inside would change the colour and negate the need for lacquer - but then my logic sometimes isn't great.

outside.

if you sprayed the inside the outside would still be orange, only appear darker.
