What “just enough” code reader

Need a code reader as there doesn’t seem to be anyone local to me with one on here. Don’t want to spend a fortune, needs to be stupid proof, but want something decent and available quickly. Any thoughts?

Just to throw another option in to the mix - I ended up with a Creator C501, which set me back about £50 - looks like you can pick it up on ebay or https://www.obd2shop.co.uk/wholesale/creator-c501-bmw-multi-system-scanner.html for a similar price,

Pretty happy with it so far, helped me diagnose a failing water pump:
