What is this?

Sorry for a pretty worthless post, I don’t know how I would find this through Search.

Basically, what is this metal cover on the underside, I think it holds exhaust mounts, but if I were to be replacing my exhaust - could I get rid of it?

I ask as I’m planning on putting a long magnaflow back box in there and it’s limiting space length-ways down that channel so would be nice to take it out if I can.

EDIT: If not permanently, could it be taken out to weld the exhaust and put back in after?

Does anybody know?

Cheers

2nd EDIT: This is what I'm going for (the image is flipped compared to mine, so back of the car on the right), that plate is missing by the looks of it.

That's great, Thanks. Secondly, what is that box on the diagram above it then in the triangle? What is that part of the exhaust system

Just to add a little more context, that plate is a reinforcement and should not be deleted.

The piece that covers it is softer aluminium which is just a shield - and has slight air duct to the differential. You may be able to get away without this I believe.

If you get a rattle/buzz after doing the exhaust, this could be causing it as it vibrates due to the connection via exhaust mount.
