I found it in a corner of the boot.

I think it's one of the jacking points from under the sills.

It is indeed as the man above says. Look under the sideskirt and you will see them. About a tenner each (aftermarket)

or look under the sideskirt and you won't see one of them

Here was me thinking about throwing it out.

Oops, thanks guys you saved me some embarrassment and cash there. I'll check in the morning if the other 3 are still attached to the car.

You can get little inserts that fit into them, helps spread the weight when jacking

I have just put it back on the car. It turned out to be the nearside rear. Thanks for the image, it really helped

As you say, lucky you kept it!

If you are ever likely to jack the car yourself you can get pads that fit into the hollow part of the jacking point.
